Marty was trying to trade back into the first round to get Gross-Matos

At least Hurney didn't offer up the farm because it didn't happen.

He might have offered sexual favors--which would explain his lack of success.

Just a theory, but it probably happened though.

OK, I am back.  We still can't trust him--- his trade ups have rarely panned out. Rremember the Armanti Edwards trade?  The Everette Brown move?  Otah?  Frank Alexander?  Marty, it seems, reaches when he does that.  However, YGM was a late first on many boards and they wanted a DE---you don't find them after round 1 very often.

Has Hurney EVER traded down? Serious question. That to me, plus the fact that he always tries to trade up, shows an overconfidence in his scouting ability. This all is, at the end of the day, guesswork at best

The year we took Jon Beason...

Marty has a tendency of trading UP in the 1st 2 days and trading back to acquire additional late round picks in the 3rd day.

Last year:

Broncos have acquired Rd 6-187 from Carolina in exchange for Rd 6-212 & Rd 7-237

Hurney fixates really badly and starts to dramatically over value "his" guys. The list of examples of us reaching after our first pick is so fuging long. It's a distinct Hurney trait.

Also, for all the talk of the "hands off" Hurney, he was the one up and pacing around when they showed our feed. That man is still our GM and he will still do Marty Hurney stuff.

Right now I believe our UDFA class would be around 18-20 players so look for Marty to possibly attempt to recoup that 5th rounder he gave up for Jeremy Chinn

Sounds like he's trying to shop Samuel for something.  His "getting lots of calls about Samuel" is his way of throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.  He plays his hand terribly bad.  He telegraph's every move.

Well at this rate Samuel is going to want to move on anyway. He never really fit here. We tried to turn him into something he wasn't and he was generally just a little disappointing.

Ron mismanaged a lot of players during his tenure.  You can add Samuel to that list.   At this point I just hope they get something for him that equals his value.

Unfortunately his value is probably debatable at this point. He'd probably fit somewhere that they have a creative offensive coordinator that can utilize him more effectively. Brady is probably a guy like that but I don't blame Samuel if he indeed does want to move on.

He could fit in better with the current system and coaches.  We don't know yet.  If we trade him for a fifth round pick, I will be disappointed.
