OMFG!!!! Moved up five friggin spots. And either of those five teams needed a safety.

You have no idea who they would have picked.  We gave up little to make sure we got our guy.  Not mad about this

Panthers

  • Southern Illinois S Jeremy Chinn

Seahawks

  • No. 69
  • No. 148

Chin, 22, was among the top-rated small-school prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft. He is projected to earn a four-year, $5,241,471 rookie contract including a $1,371,979 signing bonus.

During his four-year college career, Chinn recorded 243 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack, 13 interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and six forced fumbles

PFF draft book says:

Whatever his role was in the Southern Illinois defense, Chinn played fairly well against FCS competition. Defending against the run, Chinn came away with an 88.5 run-defense grade. In coverage, Chinn rarely allowed an explosive play and never allowed more than 40 yards in a single game. On top of that, he recorded four interceptions and two pass breakups, en route to an 82.4 coverage grade.

As said, this was against low level competition. He played only two games against FBS schools and one was against the worst team of the 130 in PFF grade in UMass. The other was against Arkansas State and that was his lowest graded game of the season.

Even against FCS competition at Southern Illinois this past season, Chinn looked consistently a tick slow. Whether it was him coming downhill on a screen or reacting to a route break, Chinn's processing speed left a lot to be desired. That only got amplified at the week of practices at the Senior Bowl where he lost all three of his one-on-one coverage reps and failed to make many plays throughout the week. He's an intriguing athlete for sure, but he'll have to get schemed easy reads at the NFL level to make an impact early on in his career.

Chinn has peak athletic tools for the safety position, but he's far more athlete than football player at this point. The tape says late round project at this point.

I am very pumped about this pick.

6-3, 221, 4.45 40, 41 vertical

A ball hawk--

He is a stud--will be a terror on special teams and will start soon.  I was thinking OLB (Thomas Davis), but they said something about him playing CB---

Wow.  This draft is going very well.

We have many holes to address. We need as many picks as we can get.

Love this pick. It helps make up for us not getting Xavier McKinney. We need a versatile safety/corner that can slide into linebacker too.

people are too square minded. He’s not changing positions. He plays 3 positions.
