break down for me how a QB like Foles won a SB and a QB like Teddy can't please.

500 words minimum. go.

Silly comparison. Foles only started 3 regular season games that year and the whole team got hot at the right time, as any team can do, and as has already been mentioned the most notable SB moment was a coaching decision that had Foles catching the ball rather than throwing it. The 2007 and 2011 Giants, 2010 Packers, or for individuals 2009 Matt Moore, early 2019 Kyle Allen, etc are examples. Foles has been average-to-poor during his time as a full-time starter and will clearly not be leading a team to an SB win as a full-time starter. Big difference between that and being the starter for an entire season, a la Alex Smith.

I am not saying Bridgewater is on the level of Moore or Allen - he is better. However, he is not at this time a player who will carry an entire team or elevate those around him. If that changes then I'll be the first to say I'm wrong.

For reference, I live in KC and watched the Alex Smith years firsthand and those teams not have the Mahomes-esque ability to overcome better teams. Hell, even Mahomes couldn't overcome Bob Sutton and poor defense in 2018. That is definitely a Bridgewater-led team's ceiling without an elite defense.

Unfortunate, as the remainder of my paragraph explained the significance of that and you've provided nothing supporting your premise. Those teams were even in position to get hot because they were led by HOF QBs (Manning, Rodgers) and an MVP-type year from Wentz. You show me what makes you think Bridgewater can provide that level of play.

This is off-topic for this thread so I'll add that I think a guy like Chinn can provide a boost towards that level of defense that will be necessary to support a Bridgewater-led team that will have to make minimal mistakes and will be heavily reliant on scheme and talent around him to excel and score points.

Panthers traded up to select Southern Illinois S Jeremy Chinn with the No. 64 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Panthers could have drafted Isaiah Simmons at 7th overall but find a similar player 57 picks later. Chinn (6’3/221) was a four-year starter at FCS Southern Illinois who earned an NFL Combine invite after a second-team AP All-American senior season. In Indianapolis, he showcased 98th percentile Adjusted SPARQ athleticism with elite speed (4.45 forty) and explosion (41-inch vertical, 138-inch broad). A slot corner turned safety, Chinn was a powerful hitter against the run and as a blitzer, but he will be exposed one-on-one at the next level if his eyes continue to be glued to the quarterback. Chinn’s floor is a high-level special teamer and depth option in the secondary, but he could be a valuable defender against tight ends and running backs if his coverage skills take a leap with NFL coaching. It’s certainly possible that Chinn plays more linebacker in the NFL.

That’s why they traded up to get him. They liked Simmons but saw more value on the D-line. He’s a similar player and they made their move.

Dan Marino - No ring

Trent Dilfer - Ring

Peyton Manning - 1 ring and 1 parting gift.

Cam Newton - No ring

Life isn't fair.

Yup. Brad Johnson, Dilfer, and Peyton Manning's husk all got rings on the back of the type of defense that will be needed to get Bridgewater there as well.

Jeremy Chinn (nfl.com)

NFL Comparison
Harrison Smith
  • Footwork and athleticism of a big cornerback

^^^^^^^ That is exactly the same thing that Deion Sanders said about Harrison Smith during the combine. I’m excited about Chinn.

My favorite pick in this draft.  Really looking forward to seeing him this year.

Don't get your hopes too high. A small school rookie playing on what is likely to be a pretty poor overall defense... eh, it's gonna be ugly at times.
