What if the Redskins offered the 66th overall pick (2nd pick in 3rd round) straight up for Curtis?

It depends what left on the board at the choice (#66). I posted this under another topic but it applies here. Check out this link below.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft/bestavailable

According to the ESPN grades the top 8 ranked players still available all have 1st round grades. That means some players ranked in the 2nd round are going to drop into the 3rd. If you are pretty sure you can find a starter or major/major contributor at 66 I’d strongly consider it. What makes it more appealing is the fact we’d pick again at #69.

Best case scenario we could trade Samuels and walk away with two second round talents with our 2 third round selections. :)

What!!! He was a high 2nd pick why are we getting less and given up more??

Because as it stands right now we either take what we can get or lose him for nothing.

With a roster with as many holes as ours we can’t afford to let people walk without getting any compensation

Seriously ppl Samuels isn't a bust.. Why are you treating him like this in trade scenario?? When teams are calling US not the other way around..  He should be worth more then when we drafted him 40th in the 2nd round... He is a young developed player with NFL experience going into his prime years...

No way we should take less then what we drafted him at.

Why do we have to lose him?? We have money next offseason and he can be tagged...

Tagged?   Godalmighty

That's if we need to.. The tagged for WR isn't crazy.. And again we have a ton of cap space next offseason with only Curtis and Moton as priority FA in our roster..

Why is this a hard thing to understand??

Ask yourself, if Samuel was part of their plan, why would the Panthers try to drum up interest in him?

Maybe he ends up staying and convinced them otherwise but as of today it’s quite clear
