this is literally the 3rd time its been asked and answered.  He is going to want a new deal next year

Unless they are going to poney up a 2nd this year and a first next no dice. Samuel will just keep getting better with an actual QB throwing him the ball.

You have to think about the draft and other positions  we could move back up into a round to get a DE or CB, for example. 

Having 4 studs at WR in addition to McCaffrey is not great if you have only 1 starting CB or only 1 pass rushing DE.

With 5 picks in front of us, there are 2 DEs.    Yes we need a CB and the second round is where you get one if he needs to start.  Samuel and a third rounder that helps me move up to grab a top CB and a second round DE---I do that all day.

Then draft Samuel's replacement--if he is not already on the roster.

And we have alot of money next year with him and Moton being our 2 biggest FA.. This shouldn't be a worry?

I wouldn’t want to lose him, he’s way better than most around here realize. But if we got a 2nd or high 3rd this year for him I’d be down. Could theoretically replace him with a similar WR or position of more need who is younger with a full rookie contract.

You trade him.

 

He isnt part of the long term plan and wont be extended we want get a 3rd round comp for him in 2022.

A 2nd and a future 1st for Curtis Samuel?

DeAndre Hopkins is one of the best WRs in the league and he just got traded for a washed up RB, a 2nd, and a 4th.

But this was a reason not to sign 8 WR in the offseason... You have a established player still very young in his career.. Why make this move unless it's a incredible haul??

while a 2nd and a 1st for samuel is ridiculous, i don't know if using bill o'brien as a barometer for trade value has a lot of utility
