Those circumstances were cause for desperation an BOB trying to show us that he had the biggest balls in Houston. Samuel was a 2nd round pick that has put up numbers and show the potential of that and possibly slightly graded out higher. I feel a 2nd isn’t too much to ask for him and I feel a team will “over pay” for someone they don’t have to worry too much about a learning curve with. I still feel we shouldn’t trade him but if the price is right fug it any one can go. After Luke retired and they decided Cam wasn’t C4M any more anyone outside of CMAC should be available. DJ Moore may be untouchable to an extent but hell if someone would’ve offered a top 15 pick for him plus one it could’ve happened.

They should put themselves in someone else's shoes. Just imagine if we were a WR needy team and we traded a 2nd round pick for a Curtis Samuel level WR with this current WR class available. They'd absolutely lose their poo.

There are no reports saying we are the aggressive party in these discussions..

If teams are calling us they must have him valued higher then the players they can get in the draft now..

It's why trades are generally speaking relatively rare. You have to have two teams get together - one with an asset they're willing to move and the other with a need for that asset - and then agree on value and compensation. It's just not that easy. Far more trade attempts likely fall through than actually happen.

You're taking these "reports" at face value. Think about it. There's only one party that could potentially benefit from this info being leaked and that party is the Panthers. Whether they're getting calls or not, the only reason they'd float that out there is to invite them.

Panthers tell reporter that they are getting calls that they aren't getting. 

Reporter reports that Panthers are getting calls. 

Panthers hope that teams believe this and start to think maybe they should call. 

 

We don't know if they are actually getting calls, but I promise you it all originated in Hurney's home office.
