If he’s not in our long term plans than the deal has to be better with what they think he’d get from a comp pick. I think curtis has the ability to be a star but we have dj Moore’s contract on the horizon. Can’t pay two wrs big money.

Then he gets signed in FA and we get a comp pick.  It's nearly the same thing.  There's no way we get higher than a 4th for him in a trade.  I like Samuel, but it ain't happening.

Stuff like this doesn't get leaked out unless someone wants it leaked out. This honestly feels like the Panthers trying to drum up a trade market for Samuel.

Here's one angle nobody has mentioned, since the Panthers went out and signed FOUR FA WRs maybe teams assumed Samuel was no longer in the Panthers plan.  Heck, teams see League transactions just like we do.

Teams do this constantly, it's about contract and asset management. It makes plenty of sense if you think Curtis is walking next year and you don't want to pay him which if we are open to trading him is probably the case.

A first rounder, second rounder? Yea no one is giving that for Samuel. You’re looking at a 3/4 and that’s being generous. I’d wager the trade isn’t for a pick at all, he’d be used to move up in a round in this draft, which is even less...but makes the most sense for his value.
