Really... LSU's skill position players were probably the best on a team in the past decade (if not longer). I don't think 1 lockdown corner would have solved that problem

Terrell had a poo game, but by no means is he a bad player. With the run on CBs that happened, I don't think he would have made it to round 2. Pretty surprised Diggs didn't get drafted

Sorry for the repeat - delete this post if possible

I’d love to have gotten Ruiz

Yep, we needed a C. We went T crazy and honestly still haven't solved it. They now have a stud C and a stud G for the next 4 years. They were smart and took the best C/G in both drafts. We reached for a falling T that no one wanted.

I honestly don't think Terrell is a bad pick - it's just that he would have likely been around at the end of the 1st round. If they were smart, they would have traded down if that was the player they really wanted

Yeah he was just a reach.

Even Joe Burrow said he couldn't really figure out Clemson's D as a whole.  Overall, Clemson's D generally handled the LSU offense except for one play on repeat.   The outside deep vertical route.   That was the game.

and Burrow even admitted he quit trying to figure anything out.  Just chucked it to that route since the DB couldn't stop it.

I'm not saying he is a bad player.  I'm saying he isn't a first round DB.  If he was a first round DB Clemson wins that game IMO. He had one job.  Don't let the LSU WR beat you over the top.  Everyone knew what was coming.

Just a bad pick at 16.  I'm not calling him trash.  He was good by Clemson's standard of horrible DB play.

But he largely is getting a Clemson bump IMO because he played for them.

Burrow had the luxury of throwing to NFL level talent at every position. Clemson threw LSU off early on with their 7 DB defense, but LSU adjusted and never looked back.

Terrell had a terrible game (not only in coverage, but also in run support) which, IMO, killed his draft stock. That being said, I think he will be a solid #1 corner for the Falcons. It just won't be year 1 (or 2), which would probably lead to the end of the Quinn era in Atlanta. He has good athleticism, is good in man D, good physicality, and good in press, which are all things I want from in a CB for my team.

Not sure if ATL could find a trade down candidate where they would still be in the range to get him, but can't fault them if CB is what they wanted and he was their highest graded CB. I wouldn't have taken him at 16 (I think there was a huge dropoff after Okudah and Henderson), but I don't think he would have made it out of the first round.

IMO, Bucs hit a home run on the pick.  Falcons grounded out to shortstop.  Saints hit a solid single.

My problem with the Falcons pick was that I thought there were better players available at that spot.  He may turn out to be a perfectly good corner.  Had they picked him at #26 instead of #16, it probably would not have gotten my attention as much.  I realize they didn't have that option unless they found a trade partner to move down, and maybe they tried to do exactly that.  Pretty much exactly what PleaseCutStewart said.

FWIW, while the Falcons pick of Terrell got my attention, the Raiders pick of Arnette three picks later was a sinus-clearer.

I honestly wonder if the Saints pulled the trigger on Ruiz over those other guy's after we picked Brown.

no, they plan on moving Erik McCoy to guard while leaving Ruiz at center. I think they are trying to get out of Larry Warford's contract

Screw the Saints, Falcons, and Bucs...

With that being said, what do you feel about the 1st round picks they have made?

Bucs 1st round pick 13: LT Tristan Wirfs

Flacons 1st round pick 16: CB A.J. Terrell

Saints1st round pick 24: Cesar Ruiz

Falcons had the only pick that wasn't at least a slight reach imo and the most help for their team however they know more then me so we will see. If we get another DE and a physical. Cb they are gonna need those lineman.
