Have a chance to take one of the best DT in years, that also happens to be one of the most important positions on a defense, that currently is bone dry at the position... but yeah let’s grab a LB who had a good combine and one good year against terrible competition.

Yeah I kind of feel the same way. Simmons can play Safety as well. Similar to the Chargers using James when they drafted him. He also is great at pass rushing. I just think Brown helps this team on so many levels. Run stopping (most important), pass rushing, Burns and KK should play better, and keeping blockers off our linebackers. If Brown is gone, I’ll be happy with Simmons.

There is still absolutely NO circumstance I would like Tua in the 1st. That's the only pick aside from RB that I would be extremely disappointed with.

I like Simmons as a person.  He seems like a class A person.  I think he's a great athlete as well.

However, I don't think he's the right pick.  He's a better Shaq Thompson.  We tried having an "exceptional athlete" cover slot receivers . . . it didn't go well.  Even a quality safety isn't someone you want covering the slot guy on the regular.  You want a nickel on him.  Let alone a LB / S tweener.

I think Simmons projects as an amazing prospect at WILL.  A (potentially) much improved version of Thomas Davis.

I just don't think it's worth the #7.

I would have been fine with taking him but when you don't exactly know where to use a guy I don't see how you take a LB over a lineman.

PLEASE ESPN, we need a new beat reporter!  David Newton was going hard for Simmons, so much so, he was downplaying Brown even hinting that Kinlaw may be a better prospect and should trade down if Simmons was gone.

Now, completely butt-hurt, Newton says passing on Simmons is like teams in the NBA that passed over Michael Jordan. WHHUUUUUT?  Seriously? Simmons is Jordan reincarnated in the NFL?

That should be how it goes but it hasn't worked yet and I can't imagine many people are tuning into hear Newton's thoughts on anything at this point after years of incompetence.  

If I had to guess, he is cheap and we are the Panther's so ESPN doesn't really care.
