REPORT: per Jourdan Rodrigue, there is a high likelihood Panthers attempt to trade back from #7

If Brown, Okudah and Simmons are gone, Id consider trading back a few picks and collect and extra 2nd or 3rd in 2020 or Im trading back late 1st round and receiving picks this year plus a 2021 1st round pick. Perfect way to start building draft capital for next year in the Lawrence and Fields draft. We don't have to tank to get one of them but we better have a lot of picks to trade up.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the team that has pick #1 isn't trading. The whole plan to try and trade up to 1 or 2 for a QB when they are ranked that high is much different than trading up for RG3, Goff or Wentz. Those guys were closer to Darnold or Trubitsky than they were to Manning or Luck. In those drafts, no chance the Colts would have traded out of the top pick. Unless we have the top pick, we have no chance at Lawrence.

With the way Matt Rhule talks about “building for the next 10 years” I could really see them foregoing needs based drafting and truly picking bpa in conjunction with positional value.

I’m high on Derrick Brown and would be happy if we just stayed put and drafted him at 7 but is he a better DT than Lamb is a Wr?

I think questions like these and opening up to the possibility of opting for the second best option at a position, i.e. Kinlaw, Henderson, Juedy/Lamb makes pick #7 available to the highest bidder

That being said, if no worthwhile trade offers come in we’re guaranteed a stud with the pick be it Okudah, Brown, Simmons, Tua, or hell even Lamb

(I’m high on lamb too but the team needs are leaning towards defense, and if we really want a wr someone will be available in the second. But again Rhule and company could be looking past immediate team needs and I do believe Lamb is significantly better than any wr available in the second round)

tl;dr

tomorrow we’re walking away with a baller, one way or another

We better get more than two 3rds for trading back. #7 is a really good position this year to get a HOF talent.

That's what I'm saying. Realistic trade not raiders trade 12 and 19 or some other nonsense. I say we get on the horn with the Dolphins. Sell them on being able to keep the 26, 38 and add another top 10 pick.  We get 18, 56, and 70.  Five picks in the first three rounds.  Trust me Seattle and San Francisco trying to do that. Top 60 picks this year gonna be the meat of the draft.

2:1 we move down and then get jumped by Atlanta for a better player

edit: imagine getting humiliated by Atlanta twice a season, again, only to voluntarily turn around and settle for a lower draft pick and inferior player because some middle rounder has caught our eye

From there we'll just need new Orleans to take Love or something and solidify their next QB in the draft we were supposed to and we will have finally, finally hit rock bottom.

You don't get it man. This isn't basketball where one player can make such a huge difference. If you want to read the historical analytics/data behind it, I can link you to some good research essays. Of course there are exceptions, but teams that traditionally trade back usually end up doing better than teams that move up. While of course each team has star players, the NFL is not as much of a star-driven league. Yeah, in basketball if you have two stars you can have a great team. In the NFL it doesn't matter if you have the two best players in the league, if you're other 20 starters are bad your team will be dog poo. Where do you find starters? Days one and two. If we move back a few slots we can add a whole extra starter into the fold. Thinking a trade back is a mistake is simply ignoring decades of evidence and data.

Here is a great essay: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=697121

Thanks. The Jets are my other trade partner.  Not moving down as far. Same reason the phins may move up, to get that top tier left tackle.  They got number 68 or a combo of 79 and 120. Not as sweet a deal as the phins but we not moving down as far. But somebody gonna slip out the top 10 that can help us and were likely a target to begin with. Brown, kinlaw, jeudy, or whichever corner they like.

I think we want Brown but won’t trade up. If he’s not there...I have a weird suspicion we’re taking calls.  Methinks we’re one of the handful of teams (per multiple reports) with Henderson higher than Okudah. Jets, Jags or Browns would be the targeted partners who need OTs very badly.

Henderson at 9/10/11 and then (2) 2nd rounders..wouldn’t be mad with that.

Not to fuel any fires, but for the pro-QB contingent, if we can trade back and still get someone like Kinlaw or Henderson at first pick, what are the thoughts on Jalen Hurts with our second (Or alternatively any acquired second)?

    • Kraven has awful shitty comic book movie vibes all over it. It's just more of whatever studio owns the rights to the Spiderman set, but no longer actually has Spiderman anymore. Wicked is probably no more enjoyable. 3 hour long musicals are tough to endure.
    • One of those guys who throws a pass that makes you yell "OMG" then immediately follows it with one that makes you go "WTF" 😳 Essentially the Brett Favre prototype...
    • The Giants games are an interesting comparison for sure. We could compare the Chiefs vs the Bucs as well, since at least both teams are largely the same as they are now, rather than the Giants whose coach lost his mind after losing to us. 30-24 KC in overtime. Hunt had 106 yards and Mahomes had 291. Baker threw for 200 yards, but 2 TDs. Their leading rusher had 25 yards or something. Our offense outperformed what the Bucs did vs KC, but being a division game we won't have the benefit of being overlooked. If our D plays how it did in the 4th quarter I think we can get some stops.  Can Bryce carry a second game? I'd rather not find out and have Chuba carry the load, but we'll see.
