REPORT: per Jourdan Rodrigue, there is a high likelihood Panthers attempt to trade back from #7

you're getting an inferior player to a division rival and mathematically are almost certainly getting a JAG at best  with the later pick

and exactly what are you basing that opinion on?

Most actual mathematical studies show that trading down is the favored play when going by the standard trade value chart.

I don't have any idea what it ia you're referencing but im very confident telling you that the rate at which mid round picks develop into marquee superstars isn't worth sacrificing a marquee superstar for

If Tua is there we're NOT trading down. If it's a defensive player then why not just trade down? Plenty of great prospects a few picks lower, and we will need a lot of starters day one as this team is one of the worse on paper in Panthers history. We're as devoid of talent as I've ever seen. Get more picks, skip the CB at 7, move down, and still get a great CB. Hell yeah.

I would take Lamb. Like I said we can work on defense next couple years no rush with Brady and Brees in the division. Let's just have shootouts I rather lose scoring a bunch then just getting beat 30-3 with a defense

There is no “with a defense” when you’re getting beat 30-3.

That's what u will get if u go alot of defense this draft. We are going against Brees, Brady and Ryan twice. Most games we are going to have to score over 30 to have a chance anyway.

You think we take Tua if he’s there at 7?

I'm not doubting that there's something to this and RR is connected. However, looks like Jourdan answering a Q&A question about trading back with the answer on the probability of it as being - "High". Then, Rappoport (though connected, is often a beat or two behind Schefty and has never struck me as a guarantee source) tweeted a similar theory. It looks on the surface like Rappoport took Rodrique's answer and put it out there.

If we do trade back, I would assume it's for Henderson or Kinlaw or if there's a run on OTs/WRs that allows Brown or Simmons to fall a few slots. Moving from 7, to say 9-10-11 would still allow for them to land one of the above mentioned names.

That or Panthers interested in trading back if player X isn't there.  So they "leaked" info to multiple sources to drum up some interest.

I don't completely love it, but we (and by we, I mean Hurney) could do a helluva lot worse than that.
