Why aren’t we talking about drafting an OT more?

Personally I would prefer an OT. Everyone seems to be draft whisperers and be convinced otherwise.

personally I think it would be a big mistake to pass your pick of 3-4 top offensive tackles when we never have that choice.

i guess we draft Brown or someone and this seasons song will be “death of Teddy”

Teddy ain’t Cam,.. hes not surviving the hits

I feel like most of you OT fans are so desperate y'all don't care if the team reaches, while ignoring better talent.

Can you blame them? Our former once in a generation talent of a franchise QB was decimated thanks to having no consistent OL play. I think people are past desperate at this stage.....

Yeah the D is trash but all of those spots can be filled after the first round in most drafts. No we don't have the picks to fill them all but that was never happening anyways.

Yeah we have a one year rental on the answer at LT this year who is declining in play and a RT on his last year who hasn't earned a second contract, call it borderline at best at this point playing OK which is still by far and away our best Olineman sadly.

We won't take an OT this year and half way through the year we will be talking about next year's crop due to desperation again. I have accepted it but that doesn't change how it will effect us this year and beyond.

Hoping a rookie QB solves having a bad Oline situation? See Cam, the freak human who lasted years longer than a normal human being could hope for who was still beatdown before 30 and wasted years behind garbage Olines. Hoping a rookie QB with massive injury issues solving a bad Oline situation? I didn't know you could smoke hope but it sounds a lot like meth.

Our biggest need is DT. We can get the best in the draft at 7. No need to over think this.

Bigger than CB?

Do you propose drafting based on 2020 needs and not BPA?

Are DTs harder to find than offensive tackles?

Those are the questions we need to be asking---sure, if you only worry about needs right now, DT is one of the need areas.

Let me preface this by saying that I honestly believe that games are won and lost within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage. That being said, I would not cry if we were able to get Okudah at 7. But I would prefer Brown, Thomas, or Becton. I'm basing this on Okung being gone next year, Little being questionable even without his concussion history (still holding out hope for him), Moton wanting big money next year, and Daley being depth or a guard.

So, Yes I think DT is a bigger need than CB, although we need a 2nd or 3rd round CB and probably another one as well.

I propose drafting for 2021 and beyond needs.

A good LT is the hardest position to fill other than QB, IMO.

I have had the same thoughts.  But the need is based on perspective and you throw in positional value, as you should.  I want Wills, OT, and I think Simmons is going to be the pick.  However, at DT, we have KK and Kerr--at OT, we have 4 (Okung, Little, Daley, and Moton---Okung (old and on a one-year deal) Little (concussions, raw), Daley (fifth round pick, could be a G), and Moton (could demand big $$ on new contract, and if we do not have any good Tackles, we have little leverage).  At CB, we have.....Jackson?  If you draft a CB in round 2-3, you run the risk of having Jackson cover the #1 WRs---the #1 WRs in this division are tall.  I just think you need to keep Jackson as the #2 CB.  Brees and Brady and Ryan would eat our lunch with Jackson on the #1. We have nothing else at CB....at least at DT, we have a former pro bowler and Kerr.

So there are no easy answers.  I would love Wills or Wirfs, and as much as I like Simmons, an OLB?  Okudah would be a good choice. as would Brown or even Thomas.

IMO, we need 2020 starters (or rotational guys that still play with the 1's)  at DT, CB, LB, DE S?, RG, LG, TE. Now, I would never draft a TE, G or S in the first round, so let's remove them from the equation. We don't technically need a starting LT this season but next year we possibly need 2. the more I think about it, the more confused I get, lol. For me, it biols down to the fact that the draft is lining up that there are 4 very high caliber OT's that we can grab, even in a trade back scenario. After those 4, we might as well continue to gamble on Daley and Little, and hand Moton a blank check. We (maybe even Hurney) can absolutely find a starting caliber Cb and DT in rounds 2-3.

No matter what happens, I know that I can tune in tomorrow and 1/2 the huddlers will be thrilled about the pick and say that it was secretly their guy all along and the other half will be mad AF, and threatening to leave Panther fandom forever. And also, the thought of jackson trying to cover julio is terrifying!

This is why I havent been so lukewarm about an upcoming season than this one. We seem determined to keep doing the same things over and over again while expecting a different result. We might as well be smoking meth.

Not being good next year is so much better than wasting a 1st and the time to prove it.  I hope we go solid pick and continue in the next 2 rounds. There still is hope but if they did this than its looking like a clown show incoming.

You get OT that are franchise blocks in the top 10. You don’t get a chance very often and you don’t get a choice of 3-4 very often.

you have to take OT.

DT. Have 2nd round options.

Take OT, DT, CB with the first 3.

they won’t,..Brown will be the pick. I’m just hoping the Getts takes Brown and that goes away. Then if Okudah and Simmons are also gone we get a choice on Wirfs, Thomas or Wills,..

oh yeh,..

we are doomed because most don’t get it. I don’t understand the fixation on a DT when OT is availability like this.  Jordan Gross held up the Panthers for a lot of seasons. Many of them could or should have been much better than they turned out.

guys like Chris Jenkins were game changers for like a season,..

Aaron Donald couldn’t save the Rams last year,..Kawann Short was great for a few seasons. They just don’t hold up and for me are not worth too 10 picks

back to the future dmc GIF
