Draft Rumors

Just draft him if available at 7, period.  Don’t need to feel the pressure and find a trade partner while on the clock.  He has a huge market, scoop him up and figure it out later.

Draft him and then wait for the phones to ring off the hook..and let them continue to ring into the start of the pre-season, as we work him out and hold all the cards regarding his medical condition.

Don’t pass on Tua if he is there.  That’s the only pick that makes us remotely relevant on the national scene.  If there is a team that needs to take a risky swing for the fences right now, it’s the Carolina Panthers. I’ll be beyond elated if Tua is a Panther tomorrow.

If I’m Rhule, I do everything I can to trade up for Tua. If I can’t, I sit back and cross my fingers that he falls to 7. This franchise and its fan base are too stupid to know that you need a real QB to win. They have seen Cam Newton for too long and think that you don’t need a QB to win.

WOAH!

Hmm hearing Herbert to Miami aint smoke

I'm hoping the Dolphins somehow succeed in trading up to number one and taking Joe Burrow.

The draft is more fun to watch when it's chaos :)

(as long as it doesn't negatively affect us, of course)

You're talking about a guy that failed a physical already.

In college he broke his wrist, dislocated a hip, sprained a knee, had 2 high ankle sprains, and broke a finger.

Some of that is highly concerning for a guy you're drafting to play in the NFL.

He's not even fully cleared to practice.

Did we not just get rid of Cam Newton for the same reasons?

Drafting Tua is a MASSIVE risk.

Cool, he may be amazing. He also may end up being Cam Newton where he is great, and spends a lot of time just not playing the game because he can't stay healthy. It doesn't matter how great he is if he can't stay on the field.

What else do you want to say negatively about the kid. I heard it all from this stupid fan base. That’s the same poo Nick Saban said about Drew Brees when he was in Miami. That’s why he’s now back in college, not the NFL. Tua needs to be the pick! Peace out.

That is genuinely a terrible strategy For multiple reasons

We don't have a franchise QB and one could fall to us at #7.  If the Miami Dolphins think that is a risky pick, so be it...the franchise in Carolina needs some hope, and Tua brings that.  Derrick Brown might be a solid DT, but that player ain't selling tickets, jerseys, making people watch games, nor winning games for us any time soon.

Nope.  Marino has already met with him.  I am guessing that is not common.

Marino probably taught him some foul language he hadn't heard of before.

Back in his playing days, a typical Dan Marino game included more curse words than a Quentin Tarantino film festival.

Anyone dismissing Tua's medicals is a moron.  Anyone dismissing the potential upside is also a moron.  Tua is a gamble.  One team might live to regret taking him, and there could be many teams that live to regret passing on him.  It all depends on your risk tolerance.

Well said. If the Panthers were in a better position I'd be fine with drafting Tua, but we're in a devestating position right now with this roster in terms of the defensive line, and CB. If the Panthers turn around next season and lose Short, can you imagine what position they'll be in, even with a better offense?

Unless the Panthers want Tua, we need to want Miami to pick Tua.  I stated above how they passed on Brees because of injury concerns, that has turned into a nightmare for years in the NFCS, and for the Panthers.

What if Miami passes, somehow Tampa trades up or Tua falls to Tampa, then spends time learning from Brady, oh my what a disaster.

What if the Saints surprise everybody and trade up?  Brees in his last year, Tua sits and learns while making sure to be healed up. Sean Payton and that offense with Tua after Brees/Payton coach him up?  Please NO!

I could see us potentially taking him if he fell to us, but I wouldn't put money on him falling to us or us taking him.

Definitely don't see us trading up for him. All the information coming out right now indicates were likely as anything to trade down.

Tua is probably gonna get a GM fired. I'm just not sure if he's gonna get someone fired for drafting him or get someone fired for not drafting him. LOL!

Exactly, high risk high reward.  Miami doesn't have much to lose, IMO (mediocrity for a long time), so I don't understand why they wouldn't go with potentially the best player in the draft.

Beyond Jacksonville and maybe the Chargers, Carolina is best positioned to take that risk.  Not really much to lose at this point, we literally just gutted the entire team/franchise (HC, OC, DC, QB, CB, DT, DE, LB, OG, TE).  Tua Time!

Yes,  he was a prick to people, from what I heard--back when the Chargers were in the super bowl--early to mid 90s---I knew a player for the Chargers (Deems May) who somehow got into a limo with some other players to go to Marino's house---May was injured, so he was having fun.   He got 10 Super Bowl tickets and sold them all for something like $20K and was spending it.  Marino was in the limo.  He said he had never been around a more pompous, foul-mouthed asshole in his life.  He talked down to everyone in the car. That is the only Marino story I have to support your post.  Glad he never won a super bowl.

To be fair to Pittsburgh Panther fans, I once met Bill Fralic and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met.  He was with Buffalo Center Jim Ritcher at Myrtle beach--if that makes sense.  I think Ritcher was veteran and Fralic was a rookie or second year guy---Fralic just passed away a year ago or so.  At any rate, I remember him telling me that Marino was a great guy once you cut through all the BS.  He said he hates everyone, but if you get close, you have a friend for life.

Then there was Miami LB Dwight Hollier--he said that Marino was treated like royalty--he was more coach than player--when he was a player.

I can assure you with 100% certainty, that this is the one thing that will absolutely not happen.

I never like to say never, but if a team that just parted ways with Cam Newton over injury concerns were to turn around and take a guy whose body resembles a game of Operation to replace him, I wouldn't have enough hands for all the facepalming I'd be doing.
