Do you take Tua if he is there? Okudah over Simmons?

fug you smoking, tua is clear number 1 if it wasn't for injury... you take that gamble

That's a big "if".

I loved Tua after watching him step in after halftime of the NC against UGA....and I'm a UGA fan.

He's been banged up a bit during his college career, though he hasn't missed games until the hip injury.

My concern is his frame withstanding a weekly beating in the NFL against much faster, stronger and talented defensive players. He's not the tallest prospect and has been surrounded by elite collegiate talent on the OL, at WR and RB while at Alabama....Tua is not inheriting any of these here in Carolina.

If he gets arthritis in his hips, his career is going to be over quick. After moving on from a QB that had "injury concerns", I hesitate in using our #7 overall pick when we have so many other needs.

A team like the Chargers can gamble more than us, IMO.

That said, I wouldn't be mad at adding Tua. He has Russell Wilson superstar potential, but there's a big "if" hanging over his head.

After watching a guy struggle to stay healthy at QB here with no O-line for the past couple of years, I don't wish that on Tua.  Build our line first, then get our QB so he doesn't get David Carr'd.

That said, it's Okudah, then Simmons, then best offer for the Tua pick.

I could not decide if this has been seriously considered and properly debated lately, so I thought I would risk my rep and throw it out there--I know it has been mentioned a lot  But we have written volumes on the scenario we all feel is the most likely--and the assessment is based on needs for 2020 in most cases.  It is easy/lazy to label Tua "fragile" and dismiss him.  Maybe there is something to that.  Maybe, however, he simply had some bad luck, common to most athletes at some point.

In a mock draft on  NFL network, it went like this:

1, QB Burrow, Cin

2. DE Young Wash

3. DT Brown, Det

4. OT Wirfs, NYG

5. OT Becton, Miami

STOP.

What do you think the Panther's board would look like after 5 picks if this happened?

Tua, Herbert, Okudah, and Simmons are all still in play with only 1 pick to go.

Do you think a 3-year contract with Bridgewater is the long-term answer at QB?  He could be the QB for the next 10 years--or he could be a stopgap. Could Tua be there at #7 and if so, how does any team in our situation NOT take a potential franchise QB?  Tua would sell tickets--bring a celebrity face back to Charlotte.  Fragile? In Brady's system with a few OL in 2021, is he worth the risk? The kid is accurate, has great vision, excellent pocket presence, etc.  Are you willing to pass him up because you think he might get hurt?  A franchise QB?

6. QB Tua Tcccmcdhdheopw#  The Chargers took Tua, so it is no longer an issue.

Steve Smith had the 7th pick and he took Simmons, leaving Okudah on the board--the Cardinals swooped in and took Okudah.  So if Okudah and Simmons are on the board, who ya got?

I take Okudah and it is not that close. We need an elite CB to keep Jackson away from the #1 WRs.

BOILS down to one basic question:

Who would you draft if Tua, Herbert, Okudah, and Simmons were on the board?

The stock is changing--Love could move int to the mix as early as #6 .  Opnions and scenarios change.  Where are you right now?

We need Okuda or Simmons which are the right choices with pick #7 and not a QB for the first pick.

Simmons or Okudah, if we took Tua I would be pissed.  We gave up on a franchise QB because of injury issues after 9 years.  A QB that won MVP. And now we are considering taking a QB that had multiple injuries in college.  How long would he last against NFL defenders?

I also believe we have address the offense through Free Agency and taking Brown, Simmons or Okudah will bring a stud to our defense.   IMO it would be between those three players.  Depends on whether you want to address the front 4 or back 7.

The irony coming from a guy that is a beast in the NCAA ranks but couldn't sniff success in the NFL. Whatever, it's all about recruiting for Saban now and this is a good look for that.

Still a hard pass, revist in the 3rd if he is there.

If Tua is there @7 and after Rhule, Brady and Hurney get up from fainting they regain their composure and yell so loud they don’t even need the phone to call in his name.
What an amazing fortuitous chain of events.  They hire Brady to run a hybrid NO offensive system.  They sign Bridgewater to teach the system and sit in the seat until a franchise QB is identified......and Baby Brees falls to you in year one.

Brady can now go home, because Snow gets to rest of the draft.

I'd take Tua and not even think twice about it.

Still, if Saban signs Brees instead of Culpepper he might still be coaching there.  Seriously.

The guy had a lot of problems and from what I could remember, it went way beyond QB. Didn't his players also have a lot of problems with him, along with management & ownership? His hype was all about what he did and does in the NCAA level and it did not translate well to the next level. Like an anti-Carroll if you will. He had a 9-7 year and then 6-10 and to his credit he realized which way it was going and went back to a system he could thrive in. From his own mouth, he likes the control he has at that level.
