[Thomas Davis] Jerry Krause=Dave Gettleman

For those unaware, the late Jerry Krause is not spoken of fondly by former player and coaches of the Chicago Bulls, where he was the general manager during the Bulls dynasty.

I’m curious if this was specifically about the way he dealt Smith or if there were more behind the scenes.

Thomas Davis needs to stfu and show respect. Players don’t like Gettleman only because he didn’t give a crap about hurting their large, entitled egos. Gettleman kept it all business. Something Belicheck has always done, but if a Panthers GM takes that route, let’s crucify him for not being a “good ole boy yes man” like their loyal daddy Rivera... Coward

gettleman nowhere close to as bad as krause was...not even in same hemisphere

and as much as we all like TD, he was not one of the greatest players in his game, like both jordan & pippen were, not to mention that phil jackson won 11 nba championships as coach...5 after krause decided to get rid of him

Exactly. And tbh Krause did a great job with that Bulls team. Tbh, Krause was just an easy target. Short fat guy who had conflicts with the stars of the most beloved team in the world. No one gives him credit for trading up into the draft to get Pippen, hiring Phil Jackson, and adding key role players around MJ that fit the system. Yes, he started many issues on his own, but it doesn’t change the fact that he built that Bills dynasty. Gettleman also doesn’t get enough credit for building/ adding key pieces to our NFC championship team.

Dave was an ass but we won when he was here at a level we have never seen since. He was an ass and it got him fired but the players were out of control and bitching about contracts they shouldn't have been offered. Yall can also blame Ron for that because his guys were expected special treatment and this is where the train derailed. Ron never recovered and coached himself to the Redskins, Davis and Olsen are ghost and Dave is on his last chance in NY.

I find it funny that the guy who they are comparing him against was a gm for the dynasty bulls? So he was an ass but good at his job? I guess winning is not everything.

Yup team got soft after 2015. It was all about social media and being a big happy family. Like at some point win some games and make the cool posts/shirts worth it.

Despite their obvious physical differences, Krause and Jordan were incredibly similar...

...both mean, nasty SOB's with an indomitable will to win at all costs -- MJ hated Krause because he was one of only a few people who would not bend to MJ's will -- they needed each other!

Not sure how many of you know this but MJ had COMPLETE CONTROL over all the video footage used in this ESPN documentary...

...as such, due to his personal animus MJ took the opportunity to paint Jerry Krause, who was an SOB, as the biggest SOB ever.

That title (biggest SOB ever) is actually reserved for Mike himself...go watch his HOF speech as evidence.

Now, back to the Bulls.

Jordan actually owes Krause a debt of gratitude due to Jerry's steely demeanor and unwillingness to knuckle under to MJ's demands.

MJ's track record as an NBA exec is lengthy and ptiful,  the guy is clueless when placed in a management role.

Mike demanded to run the Bulls back in the day and Krause told him to F.O. and owner Reinsdorf backed Krause up.

Mike should thank the Lord daily for that...imagine how bad he would have f'd up that glorious era in Bulls history!

Good article linked here, take a few minutes to read it:

After you do so, let us know this...now that he is an owner, how would M.J. feel/react if one of his players acted the way he did back then?

Mike is a fool.

Tre, too.  Think there's more than a few players who would make these parallels between Nippleshorts and Krause.  Before people start thinking Tre is talking about Ron, would hope he's not that dumb. I'm assuming he's making a connection to Phil Jackson there.

And Tre is wrong. The system and the players are not mutually exclusive. However, the system is the biggest factor more than the players. Look at all the "dream teams" that NFL teams have built over the years and how they failed like the Bears a few years ago. Then look at the system NE and Pitt, Baltimore over the years. The system is what makes teams consistently more competitive.

I agree, but systems MUST be adaptable (see: NE and Baltimore).

Rivera definitely had a system, but he was not adaptable in the least.  His plan was to keep pounding those square pegs into his system's round holes followed by complaining about "missed opportunities".
