Tony Pauline gives us some info: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/final-nfl-mock-draft-2020-tony-pauline/

Everyone expects the Panthers to take Derrick Brown at this slot, and that makes the most sense. But I’m told the organization absolutely loves the athleticism, speed, and versatility of Simmons.

While he needs to improve his instincts and overall ball skills, his ability to force turnovers and cover huge amounts of area on the field will be attractive to defensive coordinators. He possesses rare athleticism, comes with a great upside, and will have a long and productive NFL career if coached properly.

These elite A1A wide receivers aren't how teams are built anymore. They simply don't elevate your team in any meaningful way. The modern NFL is about having three 'good' WRs instead of 1 great one and having a QB who ia talented enough to evenly distribute the football.

These "elite" guys sit around for a few seasons, catch more than their "fair share" undermining the offenses unpredictability and efficiency, then get paid $100 million contracts before the team realizes it just isnt worth it for the return.

Really good and informative post man. I at least see where you’re coming from, but I still think WR is one of the five most important positions on a football team.

Just because WR may be important, it doesn't mean that the traditional method of MegaStar and Friends is the most efficient way of building the position group.

There's a reason why guys like brandin cooks and Sammie Watkins get passed around contending teams like the family truck and the superstars tend to imprison and be imprisoned by bad franchises.

I don't know what point you're even trying to make here, that somebody on the team led the team in catches?

This entire list is a whose who of just how right I am.  It's team after team of deep, solid receiving corps devoid of true stars.

Where is Odell Beckham? Where is Antonio brown? Where is AJ Green? Where is Deandre Hopkins? Where is Calvin Johnson?

The person who came the closest was Julio, and the falcons only elevated and made the Super bowl, again, as if to only reiterate the point further, when they added other solid players at WR, muddling his claim to being the exception here. You don't win super bowls with these triple teamed solo stars at the position anymore.

Thanks for doing all the legwork so i didnt have to btw.

May be your scarf is on  a little too tight.

The point is that you don't need 3 good WRs. Most of those teams had 2 good WRs at best.

Honestly if you look at it, what it looks like you need is 1-2 good WRs, 1 good TE, and 1 dynamic RB.

if this is what you were arguing before, then why did you very intentionally pick 3 WRs from each squad

So say we do trade back with the Jets. What do we get in return? Anything less than a 3ed round pick is a waste

Per the value chart

11+ 68 = pick 7

Thatd give us pick 11, 38, 68, 69

Could have 4 picks in the top 70.

Use it to jump back in the 1st.  Or package the 3rds and move back up into mid 2nd

So, who are we picking?

I'm with RR he has been right 100 percent last couple years and pretty much called Cam not coming back when everyone on here said yeah right. I don't have a problem with wr or cb. I don't want to waste a pick on DT first rd and I'm not sold on Simmons. Every player that killed combine usually does nothing in NFL.

Yeah, guys like JJ Watt and Aaron Donald were huge busts. /s

Of course you don't draft guys just because they can blow up the combine, yet can't play a lick of football. However, dismissing guys just because they blew up the combine is odd.
