Verge's Mock Draft and Insight thread 2020

Did he really say that Ezra Cleveland and the Browns was a fit?  Cleveland to the Browns.  See where I am going here?

Seriously, thanks Verge--this takes time.  I see a dropoff after 9 and another around 14--

You are right--you have to go Simmons, which has to scare you because we probably have to go CB in round 2.  Starting to look like we could end up with a Baylor DL....

And I sense (remember, I have psychotic abilities) an edge player in the third round--Greenard (UF) and Weaver (Boise) have me curious.

I’m torn between Okudah, Simmons and Brown. We may have the decision made for us and it’s possible we don’t get any of them. All 3 would be game changing franchise players to build around on D. It’s just a matter of what position you want it to be at. I’m kinda leaning Simmons but it’s tough to watch either of the other two go somewhere else if they’re sitting there.

I don’t think Brown is a “game changing franchise player”. He’s a safe pick but he’s not going to be Aaron Donald

No, he's not an Aaron Donald type. Just very different players. Think prime Kris Jenkins.

Part of me feels much like Jenkins, given Brown’s size he might only have a couple prime years too (Yes, Jenkins did himself no favors in the kitchen but it is a concern of mine with Brown). Jenkins “prime” was 2002 and 2003 and that was about it.

Rucker and Peppers also absolutely ate both those years and it was a solid unit altogether. They all played a role in each other’s success.

We can agree that we’re most likely not going to be overly competitive for a couple seasons so I’m worried that by the time we do get competitive Brown’s body might be slowing up. This is where interviews and meetings come in handy. Really need to find out what kind of person Brown is and how much he is willing to work in the weight room and kitchen. The Aaron Donald that was at Pitt doesn’t look like the same Aaron Donald now.

It's possible. I think Jenkins would've likely lasted a lot longer if the dude didn't balloon up to 400 pounds every off-season, but who knows?

@Verge

Very Interesting to see Ruiz to Dallas.

Ive actually had him penciled in there.  Because 1 the hole there.  But they also need a CB, and with the depth at CB, they will still get 1 in rd 2.

They wont get a good interior OL rd 2.

So are you hearing anything reguarding this match or lure speculation.  Because like I said, ive had this paired for a while now (even more so with the ammount of $$ invested in the backfield)

But Dallas fans were pisses when I mocked this

Nobody is going to be Aaron Donald. Donald, Luke and LT are in a tier by themselves... Brown will be Suh in his prime caliber, without the character concerns.

Like I said he’s a safe pick who isn’t going to be a bust and we’re desperate for talent everywhere and can’t afford to miss so if he’s our pick, he’s our pick.

He is last on my wish list though.

Tua / Simmons / Okudah or Henderson / Wirfs / trade back / Brown

Here's a interview with Gettleman, I'm just highlighting the Simmons section though.

Gettleman on Potential Draftees.

What about Isaiah Simmons. Gettleman offered a unique view on Clemson defender Isaiah Simmons, suggesting that Simmons is not all that ... unique.

"There are a lot of college players like that," he said. "... There's a lot of versatility going on, a lot of different ways that people are using players. It's not standard. It's not what I grew up with, that's for sure. You're seeing it more. It's up to us to figure out how that player who's been in what you're saying to me is an unconventional position, it's up to us to figure out how he fits the New York Football Giants."

At the Combine, talent evaluators were equivocal: The team that drafts Simmons will have to have a plan for him.

I don't get the Suh comparisons, Suh was much more explosive.

I'm thinking Dexter Lawrence from last year is probably a safer comp.
