Hopefully he is saying that because it is the right thing politically.  Maybe Tepper has told Hurney to decide what ever Rhule says.  Then Hurney gets to ride off into the sunset.

I'm pretty sure it is just Rhule being politically correct.  The fact that Rhule is on a seven year contract while Hurney is still only signed for one more year strongly implies it.  If Tepper actually did think as highly of Hurney as many think/fear he does, he would have made sure long ago to lock Marty up for at least the duration of the rebuild.

But Rhule still has to work with Marty, and he probably does like him personally, so he's not going to throw him under the bus publicly.

That probably had more to do with Cam wanting ‘commitment’ and the Panthers were smart not to pay him.

Either way, it’s a different premise. A lot of fans, mainly emotionally creepy fanboys, have a very hard time understanding political correctness of the media and how the  media works in general.

Yoi’ve got to stop taking this whole Cam thing so personal. You can’t control it and who cares? Panthers will still be playing football without cam. The never ending butthurt was creepy at first but you legitimately might want to get help for it.

The only people who need help are the ones who blindly follow a franchise like sheep thinking they cant make a wrong decision. David Tepper has done NOTHING but make questionable and down right terrible decisions since hes taken over. And hey if you're okay with that more power to ya keep the blinders on. You think that makes you a better fan than me? HA.HA.HA.

I feel like people like the latter are far worse off than the person you inaccurately described in your post

Marty Hurney is building a team around Teddy Bridgewater?

I'm gonna fuging puke. Maybe the season getting cancelled isn't the worst thing after all.

It’s not. We are going to watch NO win the draft lottery and get Lawrence while we would have been the worst team. Instead we’ll pick 18 and have what we later find out is the worst 2020 draft but since we didn’t play and didn’t know Marty will ruin us with yet another horrific 2021 draft.

ETA: I might be trying to make lite of the current situation but unfortunately what I posted could be a result of a missed year.

... So we shouldn't try and build a good team around the starting QB?

There is an easy out in Bridgewater's contract, if he's bad then we move on.  Otherwise what are you suggesting?  Should we not acquire good players to put on the offense?

Stop complaining just to complain.  Yes, nobody wants Hurney to be GM (when he hasn't even been that bad this time around but I'll leave that for another day).  Yes, most people don't want Bridgewater as the long-term answer, INCLUDING THE TEAM MOST LIKELY considering the way the contract was structured.  He's the lowest paid non-rookie starting QB in the league.

But guess what?  He will be the QB this season.  So what would you rather Rhule say, "nah, we just not gonna put good players around him" ?

Some of you need to take a step back, because ya'll are just starting to complain about the most logical things nowadays.  Of course a team is going to put weapons around their starting QB.

Only here is a coach saying they want to put as many weapons around a QB as possible construed as a terrible thing lol

So when is it a good time to bring in good players?  Should we wait until we have a QB everyone wants?  Sounds like a strategy meant to get the future QB killed.

I can't believe I'm even having to say this though.  It is common sense to get good players regardless of who your QB is.  But I'm all ears.  Can someone explain to me why putting weapons around Bridgewater is a bad thing?

I'm really thinking the Panthers are looking at WR in the first - hopefully trading back to do so. Jeudy or Lamb will be there around 12-18. This is assuming Okudah doesn't fall to #7.

This CMC signing confirms to me that releasing Cam was a culture change move, similar to Steve Smith. Teddy won't be a challenge to CMC's leadership like Cam would have been. Every vocal veteran is gone now (Olsen, Luke, Cam, McCoy, Irvin, Turner, Reid) and I don't think it's because of a rebuild. Surprised they brought Tre back.

This, time to move on from Cam....get over it already

first it's "teddy can thrive with a lot of weapons around him" and then it's "well you know his OL wasn't very good, we patch that up and he can thrive" and then it's "well the defense was bad, you can't expect Bridgewater to be good" and then it's "sure the team was mostly good, but player X at position Y was bad, Bridgewater is a guy we believe can win some games for us."

and on and on and on until everybody just loses their mind.

Get a QB who can win super bowls.

Winning 4-5 games will only mean sitting and watching as Lawrence and Fields go elsewhere next year while we continue to build around Teddy to hopefully get back to six wins in '22. Mediocrity is purgatory in the NFL and despite Tepper's stated disdain for mediocrity that's exactly what we're building toward.

    • I still never understand the back the team no matter what the results have been. There is no doubt in my mind that if the huddle had run the drafts the past 7 years, we would have a much better team right now and likely challenged for our division the past few years. The drafts have been awful, period and there’s probably 10 consensus guys we were right on that would all have been improvements on the current roster.
