It’s looking more likely that NFL season will be cancelled.

Again, 60 million contacted h1n1 in the US alone, so for you not to believe there could be 10 million coronavirus cases thus far has me scratching my head

Again, we'll get a much more accurate estimate in 2021, but right now, all deaths are being reported and only a fraction of cases are being reported, which is why the death rate is so high, just using a little common sense and looking at past pandemics.

Look I live in Michigan we got hit so bad here that the university I work at has been turned into a testing site/morgue for patients that needed rooms with hospitals at max capacity. That’s with our state being shut down for the past month. If the economy reopens and our hospitals max out you will have people dying from strokes, heart attacks and cancer in their own homes because there will be no room. I don’t want to see that for anyone Republican or Democrat, disagree or agree... I also could see by mid may the country opening up more and more essentials and small businesses, we’ve come this far and WE by sheltering have saved peoples lives. Stay safe huddle, use your best judgement.

As of now both republicans and democrats have installed shelter in place... So maybe king Trump should just open up the economy again like he claims he can do instead of blaming democrats for it being closed.

I never said they weren't. What I am saying is, the Peak of the Virus is upon us soon with a few days to a week, once that has passed, it will be better. A main factor of deaths of this Virus is the hospital capacity and supplies. So, the virus will be around, small outbreaks, but we will be prepared for it this time. This virus, once out get out, is some scary poo. However, people are literally afraid to walk outside because of it.

So I'm guessing you think there are ailens at area 51 a la Independence Day.

50 independent governors from both sides of the isle have made the decision to issue Shelter In Place orders.  This is not some Big Gubmint attempt to seize power and turn you into a surf.  Its actually FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.

A lot of people have mistaken their 'free thinking' for actual critical thinking.

Do you really think people will just return back to normal life just because certain activities reopen? I have the option of working remotely, I will not be “stimulating” the economy until there’s a vaccine that is approved. I owe that to the loved ones I live with and people in my community, this is bigger then myself and being bored.

Fair point, but just keep in mind, if we stay locked down for 18 months, you will NOT be working remotely.  You won't be working at all.  No one will.  You'll be standing in breadlines while our civilization is gasping for it's final breaths.

Yep, people at my work are working remotely now. There is has been a grumble that people are not actually working, not logging in, having trouble logging in, not answering emails or phone calls. Another week of that, and they will have to return to work. This can only last for so long.

The problem with an extended lockdown of 18 months is this little thing called "consumer demand" going down the sh*tter because there is no economic activity.  While some of us can work remotely right NOW, once people stop spending the money, the need for our services as a collective work force goes away.  If this carried on for 18 months you'd be looking at something like 50%+ unemployment.  You just don't recover from that... not in one generation anyway.

If anyone here is ok in any way shape, or form with an 18 month lockdown, regardless of the dangers of the virus, I'd suggest they take up spear hunting, because that's the only way you're going to be able to feed your family and yourselves.

people stanning for an economic system that requires them to risk their lives to keep it going

maybe learn a lesson here i dunno

There isn’t an economic system in existence that would survive long term  quarantine. Why do you think a democratic socialist country like Sweden has resisted stay at home orders?

or maybe dem soc is just a name and doesn't really mean anything

there are several different ways countries can respond to this absent of whatever name you want to generally describe them as

for some reason the united states can't figure out how to support people living at home, institute effective policies, or stop 15% of their workforce from going poof

like instead of wondering why that is people are just like "well i guess losing 3% of the population is just the sacrifice the economy demands"

like 4 thousand years ago you'd be the people demanding goat sacrifices to make the corn grow.

I don’t really care. I just want to know what they’ll do with the draft order next year if there’s no season. Lotto draft?

If they did this, and the Patriots ended up with the #1 pick I would instantly suspect the Belichick had something to do with the virus...

like if you're willing to let people die a hideous, preventable death from a pandemic just so you can watch sportsball you really need to reexamine yourself

Come on man. No one wants that. I also don’t want people to go hungry or for people to be thrown into a cycle of poverty. Have you read about the huge lines at food banks around the country? Let’s do what we can to prevent death while understanding the virus isn’t going away anytime soon. Waiting it out isn’t possible.

Agreed.

At some point the restrictions will HAVE to be lift or the country will utterly collapse. The entire point right now is to just allow the medical system to not get crushed by the initial wave.

At some point the value of human life will be less than the cost of the country.

    • Thielen, Chark, Hurst, Miles, and then Dionte as the answers to a pitiful group of offensive skill players horrifically backfired.  I want to see that 4.3 speed Thomkins playing over David Moore
    • And btw, you have to remember that T-Mac is doing all this with pretty poor QB play this year, on a team that's a mess with no other quality offensive weapons to take attention away from him.   Yet he's still 3rd in the nation in receiving yards with defenses knowing he's our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd option on every passing play.  He still gets open at all 3 levels and when he can't get open because of the double and triple coverage, he consistently makes crazy contested catches that those 6' WRs that are a little more explosive and fast, just can't make. If he was on one of those elite college teams, with a great QB and multiple elite WR and RB options to take attention and give T-Mac single coverage on every play, he'd be putting up bonkers video game like numbers. He's the straight up full package, if we don't end up with him, 5 years from now everyone here is going to look back and say, "yep, he was right about this guy"
    • btw, mingo supposed to play tonight.  we want Cowboys to lose for more than one reason, but they are imploding and their 4th round pick is ours. Rams started rough this year, we have their second rounder, and for a while it a in the top 10 picks.  they are going the opposite direction of the Cowboys.  I do think they have Kansas City after us, so that will help
