Austin Ekeler's extension was for four years, 24 million, and he had 1000 receiving yards

The Patriots would find a guy who can replicate 85% of what CMC does, pay him 2 million dollars a year, and sign him as an undrafted free agent

When you have a future first ballot hall of fame qb, it really doesn't matter so much who your running back is.

Silly to compare 3 years when Ekeler was an undrafted guy who never got an opportunity to play until last year.

Last year, when Ekeler actually got his chance, he outperformed CMC as a wide receiver.

First, you really going to sit here and use the argument that Ekeler was a better receiver than CMC last year?  You do realize that Ekeler had a potential future hall of Famer in Philip Rivers as a QB, while CMC had Kyle Allen?

Second, you are treating this as if we are only talking receiving skills, which most would still take CMC anyway.  CMC is not moving to full time receiver anytime soon, if ever.  Yes in Bradys system he will line up wide just like Clyde-Helair did at LSU last year. However, he is a RB first, and is the best in the NFL, how has Ekeler performed as a RB?

Third, CMC is a 3 down back with no help in the backfield. Teams focused on CMC every game, and he still posted ridiculous numbers that you just do not see in the NFL. Ekeler actually gets to rest, and has not been a 3 down back in the NFL on anykind of regular basis. No defense has ever had a game plan saying, we got to stop Ekeler today. No, those game plans revolved around Rivers, Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Melvin Gordon. Imagine CMC being looked at as the 5th or 6th option, no double teams, no special coverage, no spy, no defensive gameplan to stop him in general.
