Has there ever been a RB that can run routes like McCaffery?  They will have to do something or he will retire with about 2 years left on his contract

Its never been done in the history of the nfl, that should tell you all you need to know.

Gotta admit, I found the idea of Hurney doing a McCaffrey extension pretty scary.

And while I'm not a big fan of handing anybody the biggest contract in history (or even in the NFL), this extension isn't making me scream.

Yea, that's a solid reason not to do it.  Who cares about prolonging McCaffery's career.  Are you saying he couldn't play reciever at an NFL level?

We will never know.  When he lines up as a wr he is doing so as a rb so the defense reacts accordingly.  If you put him out there as a straight slot guy then you have no idea how he is covered.  Nobody has ever done what you are suggesting which is telling in itself.  Why didnt Faulk do this?

cmc is also unique in that he will transition to slot receiver once his RB days are done
