What we think we know about the first 7 picks

It's close, because there's immense talent that could be had at 13 and 31 in this draft but I agree.  After Okudah, Henderson, Johnson, Gladney, & a few others are clearly on another level.  Plus we have almost nobody in our CB unit after Jackson and Luke.

We are in a unique situation with the QB's and WR's we face in this division, so having a top shelf CB can really make things easier for your defense. I agree that you are trading potential one starter(Okudah) for two potential starters(at 13 and 31). I just think the value of Okudah is likely to be higher than what we would get at 13 and 31.

Toats.

Though for a quick mock, a combo of Wills, Blacklock, and Gladney could be pretty dope with the 13, 31, 38.

So MHS, Are we pretty positive the Giants won't take Simmons?

Jared, I can tell you that the writers referenced in the stuff I read thought Simmons was a lock at one time, but they are now saying Thomas (leaning Thomas).  It did sound that they gave reasons Simmons is a luxury DG cannot afford.   He needs OT.  They are in the know more than we are, but the felt that Thomas was the best LT.  Some said that LT is not the issue because they have Solder and still have him for 2 years on a big contract.  However, you don't save a contract by playing a sub par player and get your franchise QB killed. You have to look at it like, "We have this much $$$ invested in OT." But to not address a highly paid problem because you overpaid is like getting burned twice.  That is why they are thinking Thomas.  From the few plays in the video, LT was worse than RT.

Here is how I see it (think I might be chiming in at the end of some lengthier discourse):  If you don't get a CB that can shut down the #1 WRs, Jackson is going to get worse, not better. I am hoping that the benching helped his head a bit--a la Josh Norman--we shall see.  But if we have to put Action Jaxon on the #1s to develop a third round rookie-yikes.

I am not sure what the deal is with Jackson right now. He just needs to get his head right and focus on being more consistent. If he can do that, he has top 10-15 CB potential. But, he might just be a head case and be off the team before we know it.

I definitely don't want to head into next season with him as our #1 CB.

The more I think about this, the more I think we need to take an OT here. We can't miss out on this OT draft - we will have at least 2 guys with top 10-15 grades sitting at our pick (assuming Thomas has fallen out of that range, and somebody takes Wills or Wirfs before us). There are plenty of good DTs in the 2nd/3rd, but if you want an elite OT, that has to come in the 1st. Okung is a 1 year stopgap and Little hasn't shown anything. Securing the OT combination to pair with Moton long term is by far the most valuable piece we could add to this rebuild.

Ive already stated this before and here Ill add some.

1. Burrow 99.99999% hes the pick

2. Young 98.9% hes the pick

3. Tua 90% sure he will be the next player picked, no idea on the team.

4. Herbert 85% sure he will be drafted before #7.

For me the draft starts after 3, after that I have no idea what/who will be drafted.

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
