It is played after games when we win, only when we win. And 24 years ago the crowd was - honestly - surprised when we did win. It has become synonymous with a Panthers victory. There is a tremendous amount of emotion and joy and pride that goes with the Panthers playing that song in that stadium. Everyone in the stadium sings at least parts of it. If you haven't been to a home game win in person, you need to add it to your bucket list.

People who say this song is dumb after victories are clueless.  This song is played world wide right after team victories.  Here’s an example:

The lurid stuff is usually wrong but tends to stick around for a while because its more interesting.  Reality tends to be far more boring.

For years the lore has been that Neil Diamond's 1969 song "Sweet Caroline" was an ode to the then young daughter of late president John F. Kennedy and his wife, Jacqueline.
On Monday, the singer revealed the truth behind the hit.
"I was writing a song in Memphis, Tennessee, for a session. I needed a three-syllable name," Diamond said during an appearance on "Today." "The song was about my wife at the time — her name was Marsha — and I couldn't get a 'Marsha' rhyme."

That is almost always the case.  There are web sites that talk about the "inner meaning" of songs.  Inevitably, somebody talks to the songwriter whose explanation is a lot less interesting than of what people had convinced themselves.

Caroline, Carolina. Doesn't seem like rocket science how they made the connection.

Actually it does. People with brains look for a more intelligent connection than words just sounding similar lol that’s fuging stupid...surely it takes more than that for you

a song about an creepy 12 year old...how are you not embarrassed singing that.

and yea other teams USED to play it, just type in creepy sweet Caroline...they don’t play it much anymore, I can’t imagine chanting along words creepy indeed.

but that’s one reason I don’t miss the south, southern people seem to be less grossed out about stuff like that than the rest of the world

People dissing any song being sung in victory.. ..wow

pretend having a 12 year old girl.

pretend your friend wrote a song for her, and starting singing it to her.

had lyrics like sweet Carolina.

wouldn’t you be a little creeped out?

does that moral consciousness magically disappear  if it’s some other little girl and the Panthers just won a Panther game?

weird as fug bro
