Score Predictions For Panthers@Saints

1st Half:

Carolina runs the ball efficiently, putting 7 points on the board early via Deangelo. The Saints however, respond quickly on the following drive with a touchdown through the air to Colston. Then, both teams defenses tighten up, giving up some yardage, but ultimately we will be punting the ball to one another for a bit. Sadly, but not unexpectedly our ST coverages finally breaks down leading to a Reggie Bush TD. It takes the Panthers a little while to respond, but the last drive of the half eats up a hefty chunk of time, resulting in 7 more points via Stewart.

14-14 Tie

2nd Half:

The Panthers D dominates for most of the half, living up to its #1 pass rep and stifling the run with a motivated Hollis Thomas. However, the Saints D steps up as well, saving potential points against by getting an interception in their Red Zone. Immediately after the TO, Brees finally manages to will the Saints downfield with his arm, which eventually opens up a moderately big run by Thomas which hits for 7 points. It appears, the Saints have all the momentum, but if anyone has something to say, it's the man who's cursed the Superdome for almost a decade: Jake 'The Headache' Delhomme. By the end of the third quarter, Barnidge has his first touchdown of the season. So starts the 4th quarter...the game is tied, it seems as if each team could sneak out with the win. Both teams come close to field goal range, but the opposing defense stands their ground forcing several punts. Final 2 minutes...backed inside his own 20, we finally see vintage Delhomme. Desperately trying to take Steve Smith out of the equation, the Saints blow coverage on none other than Dwayne Jarret, who catches the pass that sets up the game winning field goal with :06 to go.

24-21 Panthers

(If this actually happens, I might void my bowels. lol)

I had originally picked the Panthers to beat the Saints. However with no FB and the likelyhood of Kasay being out, I have to pick the Saints to win this one.

Saints 28

Panthers 14

them not having their DTs in and possibly being without fujita balances that out somewhat, imo.

best case/worst case...

A Win might look something like:

Panthers 34

Saints 24

If we can hold the Saints to under 25 pts. we have a great day running the ball (180+ on the ground), stay even in terms of turnover diff., we have a great chance. I honestly think these things could happen.

We usually play the Saints tough. They are due for a loss. We played well on the road last week.

A loss might look like:

Saints 41

Panthers 20

I'm not ready to believe that all is well with Jake. The passing game is struggling. The Saints' D is a turnover machine. Given the way both have played over the season, I don't like this matchup. It could get ugly.

But...we thought the same thing about the AZ game. I sure didn't think it would be Warner with the 5 INTs.

I like our chances in this game. I wouldn't be surprised if we dominate; I wouldn't be surprised if we get dominated...
