Boo freaking hoo people, I mean how much longer are u going to whine. The guy never won us a SB and won only a couple playoff games. We had a fluke 2015 season and people want to act like this guy is Tom Brady damn. SMDH

Cam is pretty inconsistent - true, but so are a lot of other "really good" QBs that teams are signing to huge contracts. Every QB misses throws, but few franchise QBs have had as little to work with as Cam. Finally the team is built for a QB to have success, and they outright release him. Just let him go, to save $19M in cap that they immediately applied to a pretty good replacement that is a better fit to their system.

The argument has been Cam's health this whole time, but we know what it really was. And if you've been paying attention to Cam's IG posts, you'd know that mofo is coming hard when he gets on the field again. I think we hitched our wagon to the wrong horse. It could be one of those "dumbest moves in sports history" type transactions. Only time will tell.

Nah don't think it's going to be dumbest moves in sports history. You think that is going to happen with his shoulder?

I think most of us expect this coming season to be ugly, I mean really ugly.  Only the most diehard believers think otherwise.   I'm not expecting anything other than entertainment as we watch them flounder around trying to get their footing.  My only expectation is to see gradual progress and some toughness as the season plays out.   This team has been too soft over the last few years and it's high time that changed.

I have no expectations at all. I see a Chris Weinke type of season coming up. Or worse. What I don't want to see is lineman on both sides running into each other or WR's running the same route or Safeties woefully out of position and my usually optimistic mind can see all of that happening with totally new schemes and language and none of the advantage new coaching staffs are usually given. Teams with established coaches can at least count on carry over from the previous season for the majority of their players. "Coach wants me to see it this way, not that way," "Omaha! means this," etc. We have none of that, nada, zilch, nothing. So what are they doing to offset this?

And the one thing I learned this off season is to not trust any words coming from the organization.

It was supposed to be the first real step in what could be seen as the final destination of a 23-year trip up the football-coaching ladder. It was supposed to be when he addressed his team as a whole for the first time, and when all the work that he and his staff have done over the last three months to set the program would finally take shape with the guys who’ll be carrying it out.

Instead, Rhule was home, in a house he’s lived in for less than a month, working with his staff exclusively over programs he may not have known how to use a few weeks ago. And he was attacking that with everything he had.

“Our message, even to our staff, has been, I know we’re disappointed that we’re not able to get started,” Rhule explained just after a draft meeting late Wednesday. “But number one, when you look at the news at night, you recognize it. I see people in New York, which is where I grew up, I see people really all over the place defending our citizens against this virus. It puts it in really, really strong perspective.

“And then number two, I look at this as an opportunity for me as a coach, as a person, and really for us as a team, Hey, how can we be better than we would’ve been, under these tough circumstances? And if we can really become better at the way we teach, the way we interact, the way we do the draft meetings, if we can become better, then how much greater will we be when we get back into the office? I try to take everything as an opportunity.”

We already know this is going to be a different year in the NFL. Offseason programs are almost certainly going to be called off. Training camp, if it’s held as scheduled, will be further restricted under the new CBA, with the number of padded practices cut from 28 to 16, and three-day weekends now baked into the schedule. And that’s a problem because time, to football coaches, is the most precious of commodities.

Common sense in this situation says that the circumstances in front of all 32 NFL coaches favor teams with continuity. Having an incumbent head coach and quarterback, the logic goes, is optimal. Having a lot of NFL experience helps too. And Rhule and his team don’t check those boxes.

But finding a way to make the most of that commodity everyone gets—time—is something Rhule can do, even without his players all under the same roof. In this minefield of uncertainty, it’s one thing Rhule is resolute on.

Biggest comment I took away form this- "With no rookie camp, the need for pro-level draft picks is need"

Im still not over his Cam comments, I understand why he said them tho.

It probably affects Newton to a certain level as well.

Newton is obviously "pro" ready, but he's not acquainted with the system. Bridgewater is.

I really hope we moved on from Cam due to injury concerns and we're just doing the right thing by Cam and not disclosing that and posing it as a football decision. Honestly, that would be commendable. But, if we really did choose Teddy over Cam as a pure football decision... oh wee mayne.

Looking at the Temple and Baylor alum on the coaching staff and roster, I suspect you will be saying ‘oh wee mayne’ a lot

Pretty much a sunshine article. "Let's make it all sound good." I take this comment he had for Judge as also suited to Rhule: But there’s going to be a learning curve ... and a team that’ll be relying on young guys in key spots.

Best case scenario for us would have been for Cam to play 2020 and prove he is recovered from injury and re-sign him to a 3-4 year deal. That being said, if you think Cam's next contract would have been for anything less than $33M per, you are kidding yourself. Teddy is much cheaper and that money for Cam is going to be spent elsewhere..... extending CMC, Moore, whomever.

The long-term $$ spent on an aging Newton had to be part of the decision making process, especially when the organization has turned over the roster and coaching staff. Other than a handful of players and Marty, this team looks nothing like they did at the start of 2019. They decided to rip the band-aid off this offseason in order to plant the seeds for the future..... unfortunately, they ripped the band-aid off in a very sloppy way and disrespectfully.

I say all this as a Cam stan.

This. I don't care that they moved on. They didn't have to systematically screw the guy. He should have been out with Rivera. That was the plan. Us and the media heard that from "sources". Why then play coy games? Cam should have been released months ago.

Nobody would be mad at that not the fans or Cam. That would have been honest from the gut leadership.
