The sad truth, though, is that the rest of the league doesn't see him as an elite QB after the last three seasons of injuries and losing efforts. It just is a matter of what's on tape and in the win-loss column. Cam also has a big personality and a bit of a diva complex (perceived more than real) and that can be daunting for a new coach or one who may be on the hot seat.

Best of luck to him. Wish he'd have just worked with the deal here that he already had, but it appears both he and the Panthers were both wanting things the other could not guarantee at this time. Life just works out that way sometimes.

The overreaction by this fan base on moving on from Cam and the "we're going to regret this and he will make us pay" comments are going to age really well.

Lots of QB's signed during FA.  They will need to do some major testing for Cam, or, his price will have to come down.

Panther fans remember Cam getting screwed by the refs taking institutionalized abuse, headhunted. We knew the NFL hated Cam, it was obvious. To see QB1 strategically screwed out of work and reputation by Tepper rubbed fans the wrong way for sure. He, just like Smitty, was hated and feared by the rest of the NFL. Because they were Panthers the battle to be great was always uphill and unfair at times by design but they were our guys, and we want them to be treated with respect by US.

Tepper undermined his value and he's not a doctor. Turned out a real doctor have him a clean bill of health. Strategy. On top of that they waited until AFTER free agency to release him. People talk about Manning getting released too, yeah, ahead of free agency so he could find a team.

It wasn't cool.

Not the point. Tepper knew he wanted him out. He should have been honest with himself and others and respectfully parted ways months ago. He screwd Cam out of work. It was either spiteful or selfish. Then he gives us the fake Optimus Prime for Christmas. He doesn't yet understand that he represents US. JR knew that every day.

He'd better draft us a quarterback.
