Dragon Age: Origins

I picked this game up a week ago, and I've loved it!

I just finished the the Anvil of the void quest, and OMG that "Broodmother" was a pain in the ass!

I've got all my treaty people in place, and move'n on.

I'm started and elf mage, missed getting Sten cuz the lady wouldn't free him, so I moved on. LOL Oh well, he sounds like a weakling anyway.

Far from it, he's pure beef. I only dropped him because he was disapproving everything that didn't involve dark spawn. He wants redemption and he's cranky until he starts getting it. I'm gonna crack him open on the next play through. Not sure how you're supposed to get him out, but I picked the lock. Check him out: http://dragonage.bioware.com/characters/sten

I've ignored Leliana and Zevran 100%, so I'll see them later as well. I dropped Shale for the hell of it last night since I got some sweet armor he can't use. Current line up with my rogue is Alistair (defense), Ohgren (offense) and Morrigan (Healer/Crowd Control).

Finished up getting the Dwarves on board last night. The last treaty is with the Mages.

Been interested in checking this game out, loved KOTOR and Mass Effect. I hear alot of things about the PS3 version like bad frame rate drops and other issues. Is this game worth a shot?

The issues are true, but it's still worth your time. I've seen plenty of PS3 owners at BioWare's community site. Just don't get hung up on graphics.

Muddier textures and framerate hitches wind up making the visuals on the console a rough experience. Animations are fine, if a little stiff at times.

Gameplay is definitely action focused, and the radial wheels do a decent job, but the difficulty level is scaled down.

Zevran is a punk bitch.

heh I was just glad I got my gear back from him. I immediately thought 'fug why did I give him the best rogue poo'.

Potential spoiler ahead:

This morning I got to the part of fighting Loghain and died a couple times before quiting because the game was coming on. It kind of sucks because he hits so hard and pretty much all my chars are fairly weak on their own. I've built them all to be good as a group, not individually. I got close on my mage pulling all the tricks but I'd get a untimely resist and he'd 2 shot me. I'll play some more tonight, but that just kind of caught me off guard. Great scene though.

Man I wish you guys wouldn't post plot specific things...otherwise known as spoilers. Make a spoilers thread if you want.

BTW...this game has gotten ridiculously hard all of a sudden. I'm almost tempted to turn down the difficulty setting, which I NEVER do. I mean it seems like I'm having one hard ass fight after another...hardly any easy ones. I have to constantly pause the game and issue orders directly instead of relying on tactics otherwise my whole crew would be dead in about 3 seconds. I'm not even fighting bosses really...unless you consider a Revelent (or whatever the hell it is) a boss.

Revenants are fuging hard.

By themselves they aren't too hard...but when you throw in a couple greater shades, skeletons, etc...it makes it verrrry difficult.

It's still a good game (although I still like Elder Scrolls: Morrowind better). I don't like the linearity of it but when the voice acting, story, etc. is top notch like this, I can look beyond that.

Can't stand Morrowind or Oblivion - there's absolutely no story behind it, there's nothing to draw you in. Not to mention with the enemies levelling up at the same rate as you there's little point improving your character.

Morrowind was nothing like you just described. The difference between games like Morrowind and Dragon Age Origins is that the story is spoon fed to you in DA, and you seek it out yourself in Morrowind. Nothing wrong with either way, but I prefer the freedom and not to mention crazy depth that Morrowind offered. Very few RPG players dislike Morrowind...Oblivion, yeah, I didn't like that one that much either, but Morrowind was/is a classic.

I played a few hours of both and sold them. Each to their own I suppose.

How can you judge a deep game like Morrowind in a few hours of gameplay? You barely scratch the surface. I agree that people have the right to like the types of games they want, but don't you think it's a tad bit disingenuous to offer an opinion on a game that you really didn't play?

In any case...has anyone figured out how to make your mage cast resurrection or revival (whichever it is) with the tactics? I can't seem to find an appropriate setting.
