Dragon Age: Origins

I did the direct download from EA.

Apparently there is a bug where DLC is not showing up with the DD when you enter your key. That's probably what you're experiencing. I found a fix, but this guy used Steam instead of EA.

so where is everybody at now? I am a noble warrior with wynn, shale, and deveren. at the death trenches looking for branka.

Getting the Dwarves on board with the treaty. Level 12 Rogue, Alistair, Morrigan and Shale. Just did the arena. Already got the Elves done, heading to Mage circle soon.

is this worth buying for xbox if i don't have it connected to the internet at the moment?

Yes. I had it pre-ordered on 360 up until a few days before launch. I preferred the PC version for multiple reasons, but I had been checking into both versions for quite some time. Had I not switched to Windows 7 and added more ram, I would have gone 360. I can tell you every little difference and there is nothing game breaking, you'll get used to the UI and still enjoy the game.

Now that I've played the game, I don't think toggling through 3 skills at a time would be that big of an issue. It's a quick swap on the fly and you end up with bread and butter skills anyways. Another reason why it would be okay is that there is less enemies on the screen to deal with at a time. It's rebalanced so that the difficulty level is the same, but less enemies is still easier to deal with. Easier to deal with is a plus when you have less skills ready.

As for being connected to the internet, that's not an issue. None of the DLC is required. Just save your code for Shale because he's enjoyable. Warden's Keep is supposed to be cool and offer you a place to store your junk. This is not an online game, so I don't see anything else to mention.

Be careful with the dwarves.

I tried to play both sides and got the damn quest bugged.

So I started over with a Mage instead.

You mean about picking a side in the King drama? I started both sides as well to make an informed decision, but then sided with one for the battle and the other guy called me a traitor. Going good so far. I'll make sure I don't cross it up anymore, thanks.

I have the elves and the mages(the mage tower is the coolest I've seen in the game so far), working on Redcliff castle. Level 12 mage with Alistar, Morrigan and Sten.

The number of enemies is really what makes it challenging imo. I have yet to come across a group a 3 strong enemies that give me problems, but 10+ bandits attacking with archers and rogues all from different angles with traps gets pretty complicated.

Agreed, but if comparing to the console you have to remember that they raised the damage output and defenses on that fewer amount. Comparing it to fighting a few guys on the PC isn't the same. Also, console can still get more than 3. There was a rumor about a limit of 4, but it was proven false with videos of 5. I believe that video was at gametrailers.

One tactic that works well for me against large numbers is using a combined effort on the extra pansies first. You can cut them down in seconds and then get everyone on the next weakling until they're gone. You can let them come to you, but you gotta charge the ranged guys. The important thing is to throw a taunt (on the biggun) with your best defensive player and then be alert with your healing.

Yeah I have the sleep spell the the nightmare thing that can keep a group in check until I can deal with them. Also, you can cast a large aoe spell(tempest is the one I have I think) and often the enemies won't move out of it and just take damage until they die or at least they'll move out of it and closer to you if you position it right. Those large groups really take a lot of micro management.

Morrigan using force field on the big bad (generally an emissary) works pretty well for me. I'm playing a rogue with Sten and Ali so I'm missing out on doubling up mage spells - she's relegated to healing and trying to control the battlefield rather than nuking stuff. Next time through I'm definitely going with the mage origin.

This game is straight up badass. I love it so far.

Playing a Dwarf commoner warrior. Went the dual wield route and loving it. I let Allistair tank, Wynne heals, and Morrigan disables. Whenever there's lots I just switch to her and AoE.

I'm at the part where you gotta go into the Deep Roads so I'm hoping I can get that one dude to teach me to be a Berserker. I haven't used my specialization point yet.

XBox 360 cost £100, how much does a gaming PC cost? Exactly.

You don't necessarily need to have a top of the line PC to play these games. Turn down the settings, which is what I do since I primarily play on my laptop which is an XPS M1530. I definitely don't have the capability to run any new games at max settings. But as I've said before, graphics aren't that big of a deal to me. The main reason I bought it for the PC is because of the much better interface.

BTW...I have played about 12-15 hours worth of the game so far, and I generally like it. I usually don't like linear games like this but it is very well done here. The tactics are a great addition to the game and work fairly well most of the time, but I do have some minor gripes. One is that when you want to add a tactic to the beginning of the slots, you have to redo every one after that all over again. Another problem I've had is that sometimes the characters aren't following the tactics I have laid out. Particularly one of my mages who I have set as a ranged player. She is just about always much too close to the fighting and I have to take control of her and move her myself. Slightly annoying.
