what was your strategy on beating the archedemon?

i played as a tank, so I was pretty damn good at holding aggro

call in all your reinforcements. you should have already gotten the accomplishment for saving half of them.

when the reinforcements come, make sure to position your party away from the eyesight of the archdemon

just unload dps and keep your tank alive.

I've gotten through one game and am really getting bored on the 2nd run through. The story is great and very deep, but too deep in a way. Each 'section' of the story is dragging on. I felt that a little bit on the first play through but now it's pretty painful. At first you keep playing to find out how things turn out but once you know the fun level goes way down. I'm finding there's a severe lack of diversity in this game.

The mods will make the game much better. If you are bored play something else for a month or two and then check out the mod scene.

They could have made the replay value better in a lot of ways.

- Better items - 95% of the stuff you pick up is crap and very rarely do you pick up stuff that's an upgrade. My mage got a good staff and robe at level 5 and I never replaced them throughout the entire game, mage gear in general just sucks. There's a good variety of other armor and weapons but again most of it is useless. I think I fully upgraded Alistair 3 times(steel armor, templar armor, juggernaut armor) and only a few weapons too. Part of the fun of rpgs is getting new useful stuff.

- More areas with less depth - Every rpg has to balance between a 'deep' world and a wide open world. Oblivion is a good example of one that goes a mile wide and an inch deep. DA is the opposite. I think they should have doubled the areas and halved the depth of each one.

- More 'action' oriented combat - For the most part I like the combat, but you can go through one game and experience all the combat styles that's in the game by simply controlling the other party members. If they kind of forced you to mainly control the main char then you'd have a good reason to play through the game multiple times as the different classes. As it is now the only variation you get is playing the game with a different party combination.

i hear arcane warrior is the most broken class it the game so of course it's what i'm doing now

That's another weakness of the game, the class specializations suck. At first glance it seems great but then you realize all you get is 4 talents(the last of which you won't get until the game is almost over) and some stats. The only interesting one imo is blood mage.

Talents are the same way. It seems like you have a lot available to you but you soon find out that if you mix them up you create an extremely weak char. There's a little bit of deciding to do early on but then it's just mindlessly filling them out.

I don't mean to bash the game, I think it's great. I just have to bitch about some of the stuff.

I think your points are valid, Natty. I would have like to have seen more of the class lean towards the specialization you choose, rather than a few bonus passives or what not.

Also, on gear, I absolutely agree. You don't get upgrades enough. There were a few chests in boss rooms and stuff so I brought a rogue with me, thinking there were good lewtz in there. Nope, vendor junk inside. I was kind of surprised/disappointed.

Still haven't started my second play-through thanks to Assassin's Creed 2, Left for Dead 2, and Modern Warfare 2. My wallet hates me. I've still also got Fallout 3: GOTY edition to playthrough... because I picked that up for 40 bucks when Target messed up their ad.
