Has he really been good enough that you wouldn’t take a 2nd+, going into a contract year?

Second is a pipe dream. Not happening. More like a 5th - and that is being optimistic. This ain’t madden homie.

Samuel was really good last season with very weak QB play and CMC eating crazy volume.  He isn't a scrub dog.

I love samuel. He can be used in a number of ways out the backfield reverses sweeps and short pass deep passes yac. I hope we dont trade him seeing as he is one of my current favorite players but nothing would surprise me at this point. I wouldn't consider moving him for less than the 2 we got him for.

Yea and not all 2s work out even so I wouldn't even like that. The biggest thing overlooked about Samuel is his effort in the red zone wich is something we need more of not to detract from. Thanks to Allen noodling his deep balls the only tds he really had were contested in the endzone lol.

You people need to stop listening to what the reporters and team people are saying.  A lot of the times its smokescreens, just use some logic.

Think about it, Moore is going to get targets, Anderson is going to get Targets, CMC is going to get targets.

How many receptions do you people think that WR3 is actually going to get over the course of a year.

Lets look at the saints last year, WT3 had 18

How about the chiefs? WR3 had 26

Even if he is a good player, which I personally like Samuel, if you can flip those 20 catches for a starter at a different position, I see the thinking.

What if we draft WR in the first few rounds?  Very possible with this draft class.

On a side note, It wouldn't surprise me at all if Seth Roberts doesn't make the team.  He only has 600k in dead money, and we would get another comp pick out of it.  Also its looking like he could end up being WR4.  Personally I think Hurney misjudged the WR market this year, which is understandable.

The WR market has been crazy the past few years, so what they paid Roberts might have seemed logical at the time but the market cooled off a lot.  Also there is a good chance they weren't expecting to sign Anderson.  $4m a year is a bit much for a WR3 or WR4, especially with all  of the other holes we have.

Personally I like the idea of Samuel, Anderson, Moore, Draft pick being my top 4 receivers.  WR5 and WR6 you can fill with really cheap vets, especially with all of these WRs that are about to be added in the draft.  Some teams will be releasing some older guys.

You have to remember that Samuel can probably get you a 5th or 6th comp pick the following year if you play it right, so if you trade him now I would want a better pick then that.

did he miss any significant time this past season?

Year two yielded nothing for Jones other than a hamstring injury and some embarrassing tape, particularly in Arlington versus Amari Cooper and the Cowboys, and just like that, we were approaching Year 3 of the Sidney Jones era.

Jones’ third season in the NFL brought another hamstring issue and minimal excitement outside of his first career interception in Week 2 versus Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons. That is until we reached the latter part of the season where we finally saw flashes of the Sidney Jones Eagles fans hoped they would have gotten early in 2018.
