What do we really have?

Let's pretend we're a few years from now and we somehow managed to pay our young core guys and all of the offense is still intact. Let's assume Teddy has shown out and we pay him a modest cap figure, putting us against the cap.

What we have here is a stacked offense, meant to carry the defense. If we were against the cap and had this team and Teddy at qb on a real deal, we'd be in the same spot and realistically excited about our chances. The Patriots had Tom Brady, we have CMac.

This team, when it finally hits the field,  might be good enough to rumble with them.

I would say realistically our offensive success relies on Teddy B being able to deliver the ball to the WRs and the offensive line being able to protect him enough to do that. We know Anderson can take the top off a defense and we all know what CMC and Moore can do when given space underneath. I think our biggest hangup will be like last year the red zone. If Thomas flourishes then we will have a good bit of success but if not we will be still undersized in the red zone and will have to scheme people open. Finding a Michael Thomas type WR would also help matters a bunch. We don't really have a big body to high point balls and take on LBs over the middle.

We must address the OLine in the draft, and I would really look at Thad Moss later in the draft. Moss could be a late round pick that becomes a red zone target

what I fear is that we've built a decent enough offense that Joe Brady will leave after two years for a HC position.

I was hoping that our next QB would be a rookie developed by Brady, but we might not get that chance if Teddy performs well enough.

I feel like this Teddy B / DJ / CMC / / Robby Anderson /Joe Brady window will really only last 2 years, and then it's back to the drawing board.

Honestly, this is what I'm anticipating happening. Our offense will be good but not great, but our defense will be trash and our good offense will pad stats in blowouts with teams playing prevent D and Brady will jump ship to take a HC job after a couple of seasons. Basically what we saw happen with Chud when we initially hired Rivera.

The coaches were our biggest issue in the red zone.  Some of the worst red zone playcalling I’ve ever seenSome of the worst red zone playcalling I’ve ever seen

This isn't JB's first tangle with the NFL, but it is as OC. I think his learning curve will realistically take more than a couple of years. I aldo think that it will be curious to see that if/when he does get an offer, whether Tepper will make it worthwhile for him to stay. Moreover, OC's leave all the time, but good teams move on, and good owners and HC's know how to replace them. Just saying.

On an off note, I think some of you have forgotten how fast Curt really is. He can take the top off defenses too. Let's not forget!

Great point. Exactly why they need to draft a QB for him to groom BEFORE he goes.

We really suffered and wasted Cams best years after Chud left. Being stuck with Teddy Bridgewater isn't exciting anyone besides rastan66.
