He's gonna surprise alot of people, he has alot of upside. I wanted Cam back but I truly believe TB is the next best thing.

I didn't think the current weapons were a good fit for Cam.  They are actually a better fit for Teddy.

Teddy is the in Alex Smith mold. Won't lose many games due to mistakes but won't elevate the team either. The Chiefs going from Smith to Mahomes is a perfect example.

I’ll always love Alex Smith for coming in clutch to beat the Saints in the 2011 season playoffs.  I just hope we meet them in the playoffs again and Teddy can pull the same magic.  I’ll get his jersey if he does

Throughout my time watching the NFL, there are many who started off with a thud, sat for a while, learned behind a pro, and stepped up later.  He seems to fit that mold.  We will see.

If you need examples, I have many.

Plunkett

Chandler

Moon

Cunningham

Tanneyhill

Those that seemed to benefit from watching for a year or two:

Rodgers

S. Young

With a strong supporting cast, he is going to be good.

Don't forget about Brees and Brady.  Brees was decenet for the Chargers, but was deemed expendable...then blew up for the Saints.  Brady sat behind Bledsoe for a bit too.

Which is part of the problem. How many passes to each. Are we going by passer rating off 4-5 throws. What does that prove? In 5 games how many throws were there past 20+ in the air?

Most teams don’t throw deep but a couple times a game. Teddy only played 5 games.

Besides, why throw deep and the coaches offensive philosophy is to get the ball out fast and take what the defense gives you.  Teddy didn’t have to throw deep, he was busy running an effective offense.

I’m talking about the OP which has no context at all. Isn’t relevant one way or the other if it’s a couple passes. Not really concerned if he does or not. But he didn’t get his reputation after he signed with the Panthers. That’s been around since day one.

I'll be honest I think our current weapons are a good fit for any above average qb in this league. We have speed, size, and guys that can run great routes. Guys that take the top off the defense every game and a possible goat HB who happens to also be a possible goat slot receiver. If our oline is as improved as much as I'm hoping there is no excuse for any qb on this roster.

Due to injury and most of his tape coming from his early years as a young qb, his most relevant tape is from last year and there just wasn't enough of it especially with no off season. This to me is the year we see who Teddy is as a Qb and thats the gamble we took, he has alot of upside.

TB may not have any deep throws but neither does Brees or Brady. You don't always have to depend on deep throws to win games.

Brees inability to throw deep was the main reason they lost to the Vikings. They had to use Taysom Hill to stretch the field which is never a good sign.
