Tua Tagovailoa

I would be lying if the injury concerns were not issues for me.  If we committed to keeping him healthy, run a system where he gets rid of the ball quickly---so he needs weapons and linemen---are we doing that?  If you think 2021, you could argue that we are.

Who knows?  I mean, how many healthy years did we get out of Cam?  I had no injury concerns with him, but it has a lot to do with the way you play the game.

I want Wirfs or Wills, I think we are taking Simmons, and I would be excited and afraid if we took Tua.

I am one who would understand Herbert, but I have fears about him for different reasons.  Tua, to me, will be successful if healthy.  Herbert is a stud, but he sure has concerns that are not related to his health.

Let's say you draft a Tua or Herbert at #7 with the intention of sitting him behind Teddy his rookie season. Teddy is Teddy and is mediocre at best. The D is trash. We're losing a pile of games. You finally give the rookie a shot late in the season and he's... okay. Not great, not terrible. Okay. A flash here and there but the losses continue. You end up #1 overall. Lawrence or Fields is coming off of a monster national championship winning season. What do you do in the draft a year from now?

This isn't an unlikely scenario in the least IMO.

You trade the pick or trade Tua and Herbert for a boat load of picks. Draft Gregory Rousseau

Teddy is a game manager that is missing the “it” factor.  You can’t teach players to have “it”.  Luke had it, Smitty had it, Jake had it....we need to find that QB with “it”. Until we do we are just going to be average to above average.
I haven’t watched enough of Tua to know if he had that “it” factor or not.  If he doesn’t, you pass on him even if he is there when it’s time to pick.

That was a nice pass....I never watched him much because I hate Bama too much to ever turn on one of their games.

He came in after halftime of that game down 13-0 after Jalen Hurts absolutely stunk up the joint in the first half to the tune of 3 for 8 for 21 yards. Tua finished 14 of 24 for 166 yards and 3 TDs (including the walk off game winner) with 1 INT in the second half and Alabama won in OT 26-23.

Draft Trevor Lawrence.  You now have:

-QB Trevor Lawrence on a rookie contract

-QB Tua Tagovailoa on a rookie contract

-QB Teddy Bridgewater with one year left at ~17 million

Even an inept front office aught to be able to trade/convert that into something nice.  Doesn't sound like a bad situation whatsoever, considering where we sit today.

Not the traditional way to land a franchise quarterback, but "drafting them all and figuring it out" sounds great to me at the moment...  (especially considering the 2020 season is still TBD)
