I am starting to believe Tua is going to drop and probably way past #7.  Watch the Saints get him.  :crying:

Nothing will surprise me. A lot of teams might be gun shy about him without having the ability to have their own medical team examine him. But, it only takes one. What if Belichick ended up with him at #23? Yikes.

Looking into it a little more, Teddy probably had the worst "Pro Bowl season" in quarterbacking history.

That season he was 22nd in the NFL in passing yards. Tied for 27th in passing TDs. 31st in TD percentage. Even in terms of efficiency he was borderline top 10. He was 10th in completion percentage. In terms of protecting the ball, he was middle of the pack finishing 17th in INT percentage. He was also middle of the pack in QBR finishing 18th. Attacking downfield? 24th in average yards per attempt. 26th in average yards per completion.

How in the fug did this guy go to the Pro Bowl, even as an alternate? LOL!

Game managers used to make the Pro Bowl all the time with stats like that. Kerry Collins got in in 2008 ranking 23rd in QB rating, 24th in yards, 26th in completion percentage and touchdowns.

Absolutely crazy Bridgewater got in with numbers like that.

From the Wayback Machine:

"If you want a franchise quarterback, the top of the draft is still the first place to look.

Fortunately, that's where teams are looking with 23 of them currently having a top 40 pick on the roster. That number should increase this week unless you believe certain draftniks who are trying to push Teddy Bridgewater into the third round. Then when Bridgewater, long considered the best quarterback in this class, does get drafted much lower than expected and goes on to have a good career, someone will have the nerve to go on TV one day and say "see, you can get a franchise quarterback later in the draft."

--------------

The competition Tepper faces playing the "game" of football is wholly inferior to what he faced off against daily on Wall Street.

He is going to dominate.

Tepp thinks he signed up a franchise QB at a cut rate price and I do too.

Good news is if wrong he's not stuck with "$36 million mistake" as one of the reporters quoted him on today.

tua is going to be fine if the team that drafts him can protect him. a lot of his injuries have been flukes (contact injuries as opposed to the much more problematic non-contact injuries which imply chronic mechanical instability) and all relatively minor with the exception of the ankle issues and the hip injury. there are teams that are flunking him for that on medicals. a lot of the problem is that he got poor advice on how to treat his ankle because both he and Alabama wanted him back on the field as soon as possible, and an operation where they inserted screws would have kept him out long term. so they did this "tightrope" procedure which is very new that put him back in action in weeks instead of months, and he's paying for that now. the hip injury sounds more scary, but i think we've advanced so far since bo jackson's injury that the risk of that happening again are slim. a lot of what was going on with bo they didn't even know was happening and therefore couldn't treat it. the ankles to me are the bigger issue.

he's going to need a couple of things to be done for him. he's going to need to be in a quick read passing offense where he gets the ball out of his hands before he's required to improvise with his legs. he's also going to need a redshirt year to get right. he's not a day 1 starter and that's why a lot of the QB needy teams are having second guesses. they want the guy they draft to be in the mix right away. but the risk of that is enticing because he's such a rare talent. i truly believe if not for the hip injury, it's a ryan leaf/peyton manning type debate at first overall. i think another factor is that these young guys get so rich on their rookie deals now that they can walk away. andrew luck being an example. so not only is he *able* to recover, when he does recover how long is he going to give you?

i trust that if we do decide to go that route, we have extensive medicals done on him. the problem for tua is that we are in a global pandemic and there isn't going to be much new information since the combine ended to allow teams to look him over with their own team of doctors to determine the risk. that seriously impacts his stock, because you're not going to be able to see progress on it and your team doctors will be guessing based on neutral party evaluations of him and not so neutral opinions from his personal doctors.

If Tua does drop it probably won't be because of his hip which was thoroughly rechecked one week ago today (see passage below).

One thing I find interesting is the existence of this official examination which all 32 were a party to runs completely counter to the rhetoric that certain deals aren't getting done b/c the player cant get in to see a doc.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28987771/tua-tagovailoa-undergoes-medical-recheck-positive-results

"Tua Tagovailoa underwent a voluntary medical recheck Thursday that was facilitated by the NFL combine, and the results of the comprehensive exam "were overwhelmingly positive," the quarterback's representatives told ESPN's Laura Rutledge and NFL Network.

The recheck was performed by Tennessee Titans team doctor Thomas Byrd in Nashville, where Tagovailoa has been training, a source told Rutledge.

Byrd was chosen by NFL team physicians, and all 32 team doctors and trainers were allowed to give input on the type of exams they wanted done, the reps told ESPN.

The results were shared with all 32 teams, the reps said."

That noise you just heard was Tua dropping. Failed physical. Not disclosing broken wrist, fixed and then broken again.

The story is gathering a lot of momentum, a number of experts going on record saying it would be irresponsible to draft him high.

Will be interesting to see how NFL labor market reacts.

Kyle Bailey went on record today saying team should pass if Tua is available at #7.

After suffering through two years straight because of a quarterback who couldn't do his job because of injury, I want nothing to do with Tua. Simple as that.

I can definitely understand that.

Meanwhile, we just signed a QB who quite literally suffered an internal amputation of his leg.
