I read this mock draft that had an interesting twist...

Basically, the Bengals take Chase Young and it changes everything. They could sign a Cam Newton and build that way. It then leaves Simmons for us. Not to shabby, but I thought the Bengals could possibly take Chase Young, who be a Clowney (#1) or Von Miller (#2) in drafts type difference for years to come, where a QB, no mater what is a chance.

That would be so stupid on their part.

The importance of a QB is on a entirely differently level than any other player on your team.

An above average QB will get you more wins that an all time great at any other position.

Agreed. If you're sitting at #1 overall and you're not taking Joe Burrow, you should be trading down to stockpile draft assets.

Cam Newton is an above average QB

Interesting.

Do you think Burrow is that solid franchise qb?  They tend to get hyped.
Other scenarios that I have seen, developed into a montage of sorts by MHS---

1. Cincy takes Burrow....no way the fan base accepts otherwise--even if you sign Newton.

2. Washington trades with Miami, creating a unique situation for Detroit;  the Dolphins take Herbert or Tua, then Washington goes to #5.

3. Detroit finds themselves in a scenario they probably did not expect.  They will be bombarded by trade requests here, but DE is their biggest need--they take Young.  They will not trade back; DL and DE are their priorities.

4. The LA Chargers trade with the NY GIants, sensing that a team like the Raiders or Patriots or Chargers will try to leapfrog them for Herbert (or Tua), will have to trade up ONE spot with the Giants---to take the third-best QB.  Tough.  Gettlemen normally does not trade, but 1 spot, when you know the guy the Fins will pick?  You make the move.

5. Washington  is then poised to take the player they want:  Okudah, Simmons, or any OT.  Edge is perhaps their biggest need, and teams looking to trade up will know that.  They will give Washington an edge rusher and picks (guessing, of course).   They take Okudah, CB.

6.  The Giants are sitting about in the same position they would have been in at #4.  However, they have 2 needs that seem to rise above the rest:  OT and LB.  Wills or Simmons is the pick; I am going with Simmons.

7.  Panthers.  Trade?  If New England has not signed Cam--or even if they have, they may make a move to get Love.  The Raiders makes sense, but they love Herbert, it seems. I also think that it is possible a team that signed an old QB (Brady, Rivers) might be interested in drafting Love to be an apprentice for a season.  Who else might attract a trade?  Wills?  What if the Giants use the proceeds from their trade back to move up?  They give us 2 second rounders and a first in 2021, for example.  Gettlemen is on the hot seat, and he may have fallen in love with a hog mollie to protect Daniel Jones.  He would have Simmons and Wills--a dang good draft by itself.  I am not sure that #7 will be that appealing if things go as I suggest, so the Panthers sit tight and draft Brown.
