If we don’t trade down...Brown will be our pick.

I wouldn’t be mad at it if he sits for a year or two. I just see no way we pass on Brown if he’s available at 7

If they don’t go D early and often in this draft I’m going to be pissed as Fug. But than we have to remember it’s Hurney.

I agree. We are one Guard away from being good on offense. Defense however....we need 4 starters minimum (DT, DE, LB, CB - possibly two cb spots with nickel) and all kinds of depth.

I would love Okudah but I really think Brown will have a much bigger impact on our team this year and will have a better NFL career. I would be extremely happy with any of the three but Brown is such an old school high motor freak that would be a huge piece to fix our issues against the run. We can sign Cockrell, and draft a CB in round 2 to help fix our issues in the secondary.

If you go Okudah then might as well do it in the 2nd round also.  Terrell from Clemson or Hall from Virginia should be available in the 2nd round  This way Jackson/Cockrell can try Nickel and we might have some decent results.  We know Jackson is not a every down player and his tackling is for the birds.

Yes Brown is a great run defender and is as strong as an ox; however, he is not a great athlete and is not a great pass rusher and that's just facts. Are you taking him over Qunnien Williams, Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawerence, Jeffery Simmons and Ed Oliver.....???? Probably not. And that's 5 guys over him from last year. Wouldn't mind the pick, but Simmons and Okudah are clearly better if available. May be able to trade back to around 12-15 and still get Brown. A really good player, but not Elite.

This is simply not true. Have you watched his tape at all??

All of it what's not true? Look at his combine...shows he's not athletic enough to be a big time pass rusher at the NFL level. I have watched all of his tape, not youtube. He is a GREAT run defender and okay pass rusher at the college level. Also are you taking him over any of those guys from last year?

I though all those players would be great and I’d take Brown over any of them in a heartbeat.

That pass rush sure helped the Panthers DEF last year. Plenty of sacks, plenty of points.

Brown has a higher grade than every one of those guys.

He is in Perennial All Pro grade bucket at 7.11

All the others got a 6.7 with one 6.8, meaning All Pro Talent

All of it. Yes I am taking him over many of those guys. To say that he is not a great athlete, and not a great pass rusher is also false. Watch the tape. In this thread alone people have posted clips of LSU using three linemen to stop him, and in the article you can see multiple clips of him throwing linemen around line rag dolls. His motor is non stop and he disrupts plays constantly, and is an all around well rounded DT. Please don’t say his combine numbers are the reason he is “not a great athlete”.

I can promise all of you if Okudah or Simmons are on the board, they would both be the pick over Brown. Brown is a stud, but a lot of experts have him falling, for example, Josh Norris, John Ledyard, Matt Miller, etc all have Brown as a mid level first rounder and behind Kinlaw. I disagree with them, but no one is taking Brown over Simmons or Okudah, that's just not happening.

I have watched all the tape. He's not near Jeff Simmons, Quinnen Williams or Ed Oliver as a pass rusher or athlete. He isn't as quick as even Kinlaw on tape. I like him a lot and he's DT1 for me this year, but in no way is he best available  over Okudah or Simmons. I do think he is a better athlete than he tested at the combine, but in no way is he an elite athlete.

  Experts? According to who?

I’ll take the word of the DCs and OL that faced him on the field. Not some guys who never touched a helmet.

I listed them. Im not arguing he isn't a really good player. He is my third option after Okudah and Simmons, but he isn't in their class
