Who goes WAYY earlier/later than expected: Saxy Inclinations

This happens every year with the scouts/team boards varying wildly from the online ones past the obvious top-10ish picks. 

Here's some of my inclinations (which have a lower-level AFCS scout's chatter influenced):

Who drops...

• Neville Gallimore DT:  I've seen him rated pretty high in some places and pretty knocked on in others.  "Rotational, developmental tackle" ...Doesn't seem to be starter ready where there are others like Blacklock, Madubuike who are.  Could slip to R3 or 4.
• KJ Hamler WR: This would be a welcomed slip to #38.  It's pretty clear that Lamb, Jeudy, & Ruggs are the locks for R1.  Now, Shenault, Reagor, Aiyuk, Jefferson, & Mims are part of this next wave that in many years could each have been be the first WR taken in some drafts.  This class is THAT good. Teams may prefer the bigger guys so Hamler could have an interesting situation.  With us grabbing Anderson at 6'4 to pair with Moore 6'0 and Samuel 5'11, I think it opens up the type of WR we may land.  This guy could be a superstar.  Reagor could be the other guy who slips from the Round 1 talent to #38. 
• AJ Epenesa DE Iowa: I don't see him slipping to our second pick (maybe though), but I do believe Gross-Matos, Baun and Blacklock all get taken before him.  There's a weird hesitation around him and not many teams are reported to have heavy interest.  Rumor was he hasn't interviewed well on top of being a bit passive.  His talent is legit though, took over his defense the latter half of the cfb season. 
• Hurts & Fromm QB: I think both of these guys are going to slip to late round 4, maybe towards the end of the draft.  Teams will take mid round stabs at Eason, Gordon, and James Morgan but I do not see these two being overly coveted.  Maybe Hurts goes Round 3 but I just don't see it.  
• Grant Delpit S: I've seen his hype train deflate like crazy recently with his technique and tackling skills becoming a huge knock.  Safety tends to be an area where there is always a huge discrepancy between team and website ratings.  I think Delpit ends up a 3rd or 4th rounder. 
     

Who goes early:

• Jordan Elliott DT Missouri: On the flip side to Gallimore, Elliott possesses a lot of intriguing traits that allow him to be used in even and odd fronts.  Everything I read on him sounds super positive and there sounds like there could be early success for him in the NFL (Note: think he could be a really good fit here)
• James Lynch DT Baylor: I got a laugh at a mock who had us trading up to #24 to grab him BUT, I could see something happening in the 2nd.  You may laugh at first but he was a solid 3rd-4th round pick that is only rising in favor.  Not to mention he was Rhule's first draft visit and they are very tight along with Snow.    
• Reggie Robinson CB: He's a 6'1 press corner who ran a 4.44 with ballhawking skills.  He's been apparently getting quite a good amount of FaceTime interviews. 
• Zach Baun OLB/EDGE: The numbers and analytics backup his impressive college games.  His size may be a knock but holy hell can he get after it.  He is going to be a highly coveted edge rusher and taken much higher than expected. 
• Jaylon Johnson CB Utah: He's another CB who has great size and NFL ready skills to stick with the bigger wideouts.  There's also a lot of CB hungry teams (including us).  He could be the next to get picked after Okudah, Henderson, & Gladney.  Heck, maybe before Gladney.  
• Noah Igbinoghene CB Auburn: This a nicely skilled CB with a lot of good stuff I've read up on the leadership side of things.  Him and Brown really tied the locker room together. 
• Harrison Bryant TE: I'm thinking Round 2 is a strong possibility for Bryant.  He has all the tools you look for at TE and after Kmet, think he brings the most to the table at the position and is a solid blocker.
• Michael Pittman, Antonio Gandy-Golden & Gabriel Davis WR: These are 3 wideouts I can see going in Round 2, where there could be a huge run on the position given the talent in this draft.  I would actually watch out for Pittman and Davis in regards to the Panthers if they're available Round 3.  But there's a high probability we're using that to get Lynch. 

 

Something to note is that NFL.com has released their ratings this year which typically vary from the other websites.  They tend to have anonymous scouting insights, so in contrasting them to the draftnetwork, walterfootball, and cbs's of the world, there's some interesting stuff.

1-Isaiah Simmons MIKE/SAM/S/EDGE, 2-Jordan Elliott DT, 3-James Lynch DL, 3 (trade up)-Reggie Robinson CB, 4-Gabe Davis WR

6'1 185 safety from University of Colorado at 33 years old and a sax in hand.

Will also add an OL into the equation:

Robert Hunt T/G Louisiana-Lafayette 6'5 323 33.5" arms, 10.75" hands

He's got the athleticism and size for the outside.  Can play all over the line with potential at LT.  Could be a really solid mid rounder.

Gettleman signed Cameron Fleming to play RT so he won't have to reach for a OT at #5. If Isaiah Simmons is there, he takes him.

If Gettleman didn't learn anything from his time in Carolina, he won't even look at OTs at #5. He'll just tell Daniel Jones to keep his head on a swivel and run for his life because that was basically our approach at OT during his tenure here.

I can definitely see that one happening.  McKinney and Winfield are alright but the safety class isn't all that great. 

Terrell Burgess and Jeremy Chinn are pretty interesting ones. 

I actually really like Jeremy Chinn as a 3rd/4th rounder.  6'3 223 4.4...he's got Jaquiski Tartt (but larger) vibes along with coming from a smaller school.  And Tartt is one of my favorite players in the league.  *Edit, also a bit of Derwin James. 

Good tacklers, well rounded players.  Chinn just needs time to diversify his skillset in the league. 

His size+athleticism combo is almost as interesting as Simmons.
