Debunking TB's largest knock

Recommended Posts

Can't win on the Huddle.  If you throw a lot of deep balls but have a low percentage you're labeled inaccurate. If you throw short to intermediate with high accuracy, you're considered a game manager. BTW there are some really good "game managers" in the NFC South

The masses love to assume things. They claim they'll have nothing to talk about if they don't.

I knew for 10 years that we were going to have a lot of peeps like this,  now that their boy is gone.

Jake wasn't a good enough pro starter either, before he led that upset win over Jacksonville.

Players come and go.  Be a fan of the team, or.move on already.

From what I've seen of teddy, yes he doesn't have a cannon however his long ball isn't overly short and it is plenty accurate wich gets harder the further the ball flies. I look at him as a 45 to 50 yard through the air guy wich is plenty for when Curtis Samuel gets behind the cb and safety and even allows him to lead him. He doesn't have the ability to throw the 60 plus yard through the air that Cam did but how many qbs can and is it really necessary, a benefit no doubt but don't knock Teddy's deep ball before you've watched him throw one, accuracy is key!

Teddy is not limited by his arm.  He's like Alex Smith.  Both can grip it and rip it, but simply choose not to.

"For every Wentz there is a Drew Brees."  I'm not seeing it.  Here is a link to QBs and I'm going to put together a quick list of what I see as the best couple of QBs from each draft class.  Feel free to change any of the people I chose to highlight:

http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/positions/qb

2019 - Kyler Murray 1st overall, Daniel Jones 6th overall

2018 - Baker Mayfield 1st overall, Lamar Jackson 32nd overall

2017 - Patrick Mahomes 10th overall, DeShaun Watson 12th overall

2016 - Jared Goff 1st overall, Carson Wentz 3rd overall, Dak Prescott 4th round

2015 - Jameis Winston 1st overall, Marcus Mariotta 2nd overall

2014 - Teddy Bridgewater 32nd overall, Jimmy Garoppolo 2nd round

2013 - the entire draft sucked

2012 - Andrew Luck 1st overall, Russell Wilson 3rd round

2011 - Cam Newton 1st overall, Andy Dalton 2nd round

2010 - Sam Bradford 1st overall

2009 - Matt Stafford 1st overall, Mark Sanchez 5th overall

2008 - Matt Ryan 3rd overall, Joe Flacco 18th overall

2007 - the entire draft sucked

2006 - Jay Cutler 11th overall

2005 - Alex Smith 1st overall, Aaron Rodgers 25th overall

2004 - Eli Manning 1st overall, Philip Rivers 4th overall, Ben Roethlisberger 11th overall

2003 - Carson Palmer 1st overall

2002 - the entire draft sucked, Ronald Curry switched to WR

2001 - Mike Vick 1st overall, Drew Brees 2nd round

2000 - Chad Pennington 18th overall, Tom Brady 6th round

1999 - Donovan McNabb 2nd overall, Daunte Culpepper 11th overall

1998 - Peyton Manning 1st overall, Matt Hasselbeck 6th round

I think you missed my point. I was saying only for every good qb drafted in the top ten, there is a good qb drafted either later in the 1st or not in the 1st at all. My point was the notion that drafting outside the top of the draft excludes you from any meaningful chance of getting a quality qb through the draft is not a notion supported by history.

I think you need to look closer at the data, and really think about what it means.  Particularly when you were responding to someone who was calling 8-8 QB hell.  How many middling 8-8 type teams took a QB later in the draft and that spring boarded them to something more?  And don't just look at that number in a vacuum.  Look at all of the teams in that situation, then add up how many QBs were drafted.  Does that mean its impossible?  No.  Its not impossible to take an arena league football player who's bagging groceries and go win a Super Bowl with him.  But some things have such low odds, its silly to discuss in any meaningful way.

If you don't have your franchise QB, you really need to think about moving up to go get one.  And its a lot harder to do that when you are a middling 8-8 type team year after year.

You probably didn't intend this, but you're proving his point quite well.

I can assure you the ball will be out of teddy's hand within 2-3 seconds. Even a terrible line usually holds for 2-3 seconds.

With the defense we are fielding we will be in a spot where dink and dunk won't be an option at the end of the halfs. He will take some shots and just like the Dline, I don't expect the Oline to be fixed in one offseason. dink and dunk will save TB from a lot of pain but he is still going to have to throw down the field if the run game and especially the D can't save him from that fate.

    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
    • In my dream, we somehow luck into a top 2 pick and someone wants a QB bad and doesn’t want anyone else to jump them. Somehow we’ll probably screw up the picks anyway, but it would be nice to do even partially what Chicago did to us. We’d have to lose out, which is a decent possibility unless Tampa is resting. We need Atlanta to stay within a game because Atlanta beat Tampa twice. The rest of the draft slots are who knows because Jax plays the Raiders and then Tennessee and you never know who will rest starters. I think we are top 7 unless we somehow pull out 2 more wins. The 4 win teams have higher SOS and there is only one 5 win team with the same SOS. If we win 1 of 3, we still should stay in top 7. If we lose out and the Jax games work for us, we can easily be top 3.
