I am the only one excited about Teddy B's potential?

You definitely have company, lots of it.

The expert prognosticators who actually know Teddy were all over the airwaves last week saying why this is an incredible pickup by Hurney...

...Big Time Teddy is going to blow some minds.

Bottom out at 8-8 this year and sky is the limit going forward!

I expect we compete for a Super Bowl berth in year 3 or 4 of Rhule's rule.

I'm hopeful, but not excited.

I think the signing isn't good long term for the Panthers, but I'm hopeful at this point.

I don't think it's meant to be. It's a bridge.

I like him in this system though. He's got a great skill set for it.

Its just funny to me that Cam got so much crap for being injured but we sign a guy like Teddy who had a more severe injury than either of the two injuries Newton suffered and we expect him to hold up just fine no questions asked. I get the injury happened a few years ago but hes still yet to prove he can play an entire season, which he has not done since that injury. I just find it incredibly odd.

This is a warp of reality.  Teddy was not held out of games the past 4 years because of injuries or performance.  It was one injury only.  A freak injury at that.  a non-contract injury.  Teddy missed a game because of an elbow injury in 2014 that was it.  Cam's injuries were from impact and contract during football games.  Teddy was knocked around the past 2 seasons and has shown to be as durable as he ever was in Minnesota.  Wondering if his knee is potentially vulnerable in the future is perfectly valid, but he is not injury-prone at all, and has not had any other kind of injuries since that knee in 2016.

He didn't finish in 2019 because Drew Brees came back not because of injury?  You're in the NFC South, you weren't aware of that?

Like a lot of Teddy fans, I'm new to Panthers world.  I'm too new on this board to create posts yet but when i can i'll lay it out more, but Panther fans should be excited and optimistic about Teddy.

I only know Cam Newton from a distance.  as someone who only knows his stats if i look them up and other impressions from a distance as a fan who hasn't watched Panthers game with any regularity.  With all that said, if Cam Newton joined my favorite team, my excitement or lack-there-of would be based on a position of ignorance and only seeing Cam from a distance.  To understand how happy or unhappy I REALLY should be, I would listen to the reporters who covered his career, his teammates, his coaches, and the fans who actually watched his games for years.  they're going to know a heck of a lot more about Cam then my limited knowledge of his career, and more importantly how he is now and what his outlook would be.

that being said I am reading an unbelievable amount of ignorance on what Teddy has done, what he is and what he's capable of.  And I don't say "ignorant" to be insulting i say it by the dictionary definition of the word, of just being unfamiliar with the literal nuts and bolts of his career.  If I think Cam Newton would light it up for the Chargers and a Panther fan says it won't happen.  I'm inclined to believe the Panthers fan.  If you want to know how Teddy will be as a Panther listen to the Panthers, Saints, Jets, and Vikings reporters.  Listen to interviews from Mike Zimmer, Sean Payton, and Joe Brady.  Ask the Vikings fans who still dream of having Teddy return somehow, or the Jets fans in 2019 watching Teddy go 5-0 while the Jets fell apart, furious their team traded him away the year before.  Or most recently the New Orleans Saints fans who a year ago SOUNDED EXACTLY LIKE YOU, and a year later were stomping their feet and chanting "Teddy!  Teddy!  Teddy!" and having nothing but praise for him now.

I'm not trying to insult or argue with anyone here.  I'm just saying to be open-minded to the idea that your distant impression of Teddy might not actually be accurate, and when u hear the evergrowing list of coaches, players, reporters, and fans who spent time with Teddy and are now praising this kid, be open to the idea that they might have good reason for it.

You do have some very ignorant Huddlers, and I'm talking connotation, not denotation!

I meant more about making sure that we secured one of the top two picks next offseason.

Even if we did everything else that we have done this offseason, but didn't sign Teddy, I would have felt pretty good about having the 33rd pick in the draft in 21.

Don't worry about it, a lot of it is spoiled grapes and hurt feelings, myself somewhat included.  By the time August/September rolls around we will be itching for Teddy Franchise to bring us to the big game.

My best friend is a Vikings fan I have watched PLENTY of Teddy Bridgewater. Even went to a Vikings vs Chiefs game at TCF stadium in 2015. I have nothing against TB but having a guy like Teddy who has LARGELY been a game manager playing in a run first offense for most of his career to sign a $63 million dollar deal to replace our Franchise Qb who this new regime decided to give up on is the problem. Cam deserved every opportunity to return to form and he was robbed of that. That is the problem. It did not matter who the QB was coming to replace him, short of Tom Brady, because there is no real upgrade over a healthy Cam Newton who's team FINALLY decided to surround him with some playmakers on offense.

Teddy has been decent throughout his career he absolutely deserved an opportunity to prove he can still play Qb in the NFL and I'm glad he got his shot. However unlike Teddy Cam doesn't need 3-4 years to come back from his injuries. He took his time off, his shoulder has had plenty of rest as well as his foot he looks ready to roll.

We have seen so many times throughout our Franchise's young history of back up Qbs coming off the bench and playing admirably. Look no further than the 4 game stretch Kyle Allen put together just last year when Cam went down after week 3. Nick Foles won the Eagles a SB coming off the bench. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh McCown, Matt Moore are all guys who have made livings coming off the bench and stringing together a few REALLY decent games. It does not mean they are Franchise Qb material. TB is a huge gamble in that regard and is a clear downgrade at the Qb position than what we had. And that's the problem. He did not deserve a 3 year $63 million dollar deal. And he did not deserve to replace Cam Newton
