If you paid taxes on it....

Not giving me the option.  Just asked what my gross pay was the final week.   That is impossible to know except for the base pay. Of course, kicking me out before I could get to the end.  Tried calling them a few minutes ago...said the wait time was an hour. Am guessing they stop at 5..so will try tomorrow..put my phone on the charger and wait them out.

I was working a job in a school through a temp agency and I got canned weeks ago without pay unsurprisingly.  Even just 2 days after it happened my employer wasn't answering phone calls, never responded to the messages I left them. Just sent a generic email to everyone saying polish off your resume and apply to other jobs lol.

I do live in a household with 2 older family members (one is elderly getting part of her late husbands military reteriment income I'm guessing and whatever retirement, social security stuff she gets as well, the other one is a middle aged teacher who isn't working but still getting paychecks. So I know I can survive if I'm out of work for a while although it'll be annoying them that I dont have income.

Right now I'm about to start a trucking school (just got my CDL permit Friday). However there's a pretty high chance there's going to eventually be a statewide (NC) stay at home order if the Corona-virus keeps spreading so rapidly. I'm still starting on Monday and the program's supposed to last 5 weeks. I'd be lucky to get through it all and get my full CDL before everything totally shuts down.

I'm expecting to get told to go back home sometime in the following 2 weeks and I'll just be chilling waiting for this mess to subside so I can go back and finish my CDL training. Fortunate I've got a living situation where 2/3 household members are still making money and the house was paid off a long time ago.

I'm a 5 year trucker.   I'd bet good money your s school will be considered essential.   We need drivers way too bad for anything to interrupt that whole training pipeline.

I would put the total from the last known number you have.  I'm not sure how much unemployment is with the new legislation, but typically its not very much so you won't need much to report above the $500/week to max out what you are going to get.  Others may know different based on the current situation.

When I left Louisiana it was like $265/week and a few years ago I think South Carolina was something like $350/week.

The local nursing school near me shut down, which I thought was weird.

We got notified by our banker today we were approved for our Paycheck Protection Program money to keep everyone paid for a couple more months.  Hopefully other small businesses will start to get theirs as well.

Jesus, that was a quick approval.  Hoping mine is as quick, submitted my app for my business yesterday.

We had been working with our SBA banker on getting ready basically since Mnuchin said it was included in the bill and were able to get the app in last Fri.  I was shocked however after hearing the troubles others were having that it went through that quick.

Good Luck!!

Thanks!  It's going to be interesting to see how quickly/slowly these loans get out.  A banker buddy of mine told me Sunday that he was NOT looking forward to this week at all.  He said last year there was $3.? billion is SBA loan transactions, and this bill was calling for $350 billion.  Mind boggling.

Has anyone had any luck actually talking to a live person at the North Carolina DES ?  If so how did you get through ?

Nope.  Tried a little while ago (again).  After choosing that option...get a message that says they cannot offer personal service at this time.  Goodbye.

Finished my online app, finally, at 330am.  But have some questions...there was info it did not let me give them...and of course they threaten a criminal offense if it is not correct. I need to talk with someone.

I feel your pain - got them on speed dial and call dozens of times a day - always get hung up on by their machine.  Filed over 3 weeks ago and says my claim is " pending resolution".  My employers still have not been contacted.  Meanwhile a server at one of the same restaurants as mine has been drawing benefits for 2 weeks.  WTF ?

Well I've been unemployed for over a month now. Not sure what I'm going to do.

Have you filed for Unemployment yet ?  got any family or friends you could borrow some money from to tide you over until the system gets you your money?

Glad the NC department of employment security took the day off today and have their looong weekend.  Not taking any calls today.  Not like there are several tens of thousands of fellow Carolinians out of work wondering where their next meal is going to come  from.
