Which Panther was the GOAT?

Luke is the best player we have ever had.

Peppers is second.

Steve is third.

Cam is forth.

 

Although Luke's career was short, he was consistently one of the very best players in the NFL from day 1.

Peppers will waltz into the Hall.

Steve will likely get into the Hall.

Cam may get into the Hall.

Each of those guys left a huge, positive mark on the organization.

I think Smith was better at his position then the other 3 were at theirs, problem is Smith played a position that’s more depended on others. If Smith played on a pass first team with a good QB theirs no doubt in my mind he’s second to Jerry Rice in yards.

Sure, but those guys weren't even the greatest Panthers at their positions

Know people love SS89, but Luke Kuechly was head-and-shoulders the best at his position for a ~half-decade.

I voted Smitty, but I think Ive changed to Luke... He's the only one who has an agrument for Top 5 at his position ALL TIME... not sure he'd make it, but it would be close...

Luke was probably the most talented overall, but when considering all things - longevity, charisma, physical stature, etc, I would have to think no one can really compete with Smitty.

I mean, when your first touch is a return TD, you really announce your arrival with style. And things only got better.

Ice up son. Bottom line.

(And this is coming from someone who finds his little-man syndrome, tough guy attitude off-putting much of the time.)

Greatest athlete maybe.  Player?  If you are going by statistics, nope.  If you are going by the intangibles, you have a decent argument.   Depends on how you look at it.
