I’m rooting for Cam, and I hope he makes all who did give up on him look foolish.

Hes not done.

I want him to do well but I don't want him to make us look foolish. Ideally he is extremely successful and our new QB(whoever that is) is also extremely successful.

All these Cam worshipers think about is race.  Everything has to do with race.  If you do not love him as much as they do it can only be because of his skin color.  I've never seen so much bigotry being leveled at people just because you don't worship their God.

the bigotry towards Cam early in his career - before the injuries etc really piled up - caused a strong negative reaction to criticism of him.  it got crazy here.  there are some very well respected posters that were accused of pushing "an agenda" for saying the team was moving on from Cam.  Or those of us that would highlight his limitations would be insulted and accused of racism.  I basically had to make sure to caveat every post with "I love Cam but"... because I do, but...

anyway, hard to deny lots of Panthers fans were idiot bigots early on.  remember the "blacks can't win superbowls" posts from almost a decade ago now?  but it was almost a decade ago now...

I wonder if other franchises with great black QBs have faced this same kind of reaction.

They are painting with the same broad brush as the people who hate him because of his race. Yet they don't realize that. Some people actually do dislike him for other reasons than being bigots.

Did you act this way when Luke retired?

The Luke talk went on for weeks. But the Cam talks should end immediately.lol

Actually I did, didn’t post it, but told several people that pissing and moaning over it was a waste of time.

We need to start handing out warnings to all the anti-Cam and pro-Cam trolls that flood every thread waging their pitched battles.

It gets tiresome.

"YOU DON'T LIKE CAM BECAUSE YOU ARE A RACIST!"

"AT LEAST WE WILL HAVE A QB WHO IS RESPECTFUL AND CAN COMPLETE A LONG PASS."

Ya'll have sex and get it over with.

Well that’s the ignorance in this statement, butthurt? By posting a motivational workout video, the amount of twisting you and others are going to paint those videos as butthurt is concerning. Than to say cam should be happy for the millions the panthers organization paid him, because there’s a disconnect in your statement between what’s the panthers money and your money, as you state “we pay” when you actually didn’t pay a cent.

Than if we are being real, the lesser salary he made on his rookie contract while increasing the revenue for the organization, there shouldn’t be any conversation about 20 million last season, there really shouldn’t be any conversation whatsoever about it. You act as if the payout should buy Cam’s rights to have some emotional reaction to how he was treated on his way out, it’s asinine, his bank account figure doesn’t make him any less human than you and I

The relationship between the Panthers and Cam has been mutually beneficial.

Cam has been a talented team leader and nationally recognized personality.  He has raised the visibility of the Panthers organization to a level never achieved prior to his arrival.

While Cam has been hampered by injuries these last few years, his overall positive impact for the last decade has been more than worth his overall compensation.

I'd be surprised if anyone in the organization said otherwise.

For every action there is a reaction.

This board and many other people & places were filled with dog whistles and outright racist statements towards Cam during the draft process, and during his career. I was here when the blacks can’t win Super Bowl comment was made and Grits. Not to mention the Nolan hit piece, calling him a running QB from the very beginning, questioning his intelligence and boldly stating he wasn’t able to read defenses, calling him inaccurate from the start, wanting to give up on him, while wanting to stick with other inaccurate QBs. There’s been more; questioning his leadership and saying he wasn’t a “leader of men” all the while, his teammates were telling all these people they were wrong. A lot of that was based on racial stereotypes. Those who took a liking to Cam noticed, and it’s been attack mode ever since. Maybe if many others spoke up then, all this wouldn’t be happening now.

Agreed, I’m not with people acting like this was TD saying this(who we kept and paid even after 3 in a row acl tears) than maybe maybe he’d have a slight point but I agreed fully with your statement

The organization has definitely said "thank you" to him more than once. It's not been well received.

As I've said previously, I have no problem with the actual business transaction. Moving on from Newton given his health history, contract status, etc was valid.

Not being up front within behind the scenes though? That was bullsh-t.

Letting him believe that he was going to be the starter this season when clearly that was never the intent accomplished nothing but a lot of ill will, and frankly it's deserved.

This really should have been handled better.
