Word from the Panthers was that they were surprised he wasn't asking for more.

My point I think he could have gotten more.. But he sacrifice more money for the opportunity to prove he can be more then just a Bridge QB.. I think he got assurances that he had atleast this year to prove himself..

I'd say the presence of Joe Brady probably had a lot to do with it.

They lied their asses off about Cam. Why would anyone trust what they had to say. Dollar signs on a contract speak a lot louder. If he had the opportunity to make more somewhere else he'd probably be playing there instead.

Cam is a different story and different situation..

Cam wanted and deserved more assurances.. Cam wanted the team to commit to him.. Give him a 5 year contract for 30 mil..

They weren't willing to do that... Teddy wasn't asking for nearly the commitment..

That to.. But like I said he has this one year.. Because I think they really love next year group of QB.. Or let me be clear TEPPER loves next years group of QB.. I think there are factions in this FO right now.. And they are coming up with a plan they all can live with..

Brady and Rhule likes TB and wants to give him a chance..

Tepper wants a tear down but is willing to wait for his franchise QB..

Marty trying to yes man both factions..

I'm sure the team conjured up this diabolical plan of ending Cams career, right? My God some of you guys are unbelievable...

Obvious to anybody listening to the leaks Teppers team was gifting the media while everyone else Cam, Rhule out there selling a different picture. I believe QB1 when he said "blindsided".

If Tepper was an honest dealer he would have released Cam at the end of last season because THAT'S what he'd planned to do the whole time. For him it was about clearing the building.

Be honest with everyone and yourself and do that. Don't carry on with drama and disinformation just to cut the guy and get nothing at the WORST possible time for Cams free agency.

He intentionally depressed Cams value in the market point blank to low ball him later, business people saw that coming from the get go. Actions speak louder than words.

Tepper doesn't come from the hospitality industry like Jerry Richardson. He obviously lacks some social graces. How about some magnanimity? Less FaceTime? How about you make this about trying to field the best coach/team possible without tying their hands and throwing coach under the bus to relish in your long awaited f' you to Cam Newton, that's what you said you were going to do.

In NO world is Cam Newton inferior to Teddy Bridgewater. All due respect to TB but that was a joke. Not an upgrade.

Why do the social media drama around Rhule, Cam and then do it when and the way you did. Not good business. Took things personal and set Cams free agency opportunities down to nothing in the ill-conceived tactic. Him building a bad rep wins you nothing.

Not proud of the New Orleans Saints nuthugging by coaching either. Not good role models. Sean Payton isn't your football friend. He will grind your career into dust if he lands Cam Newton, heck he doesn't need Cam for that.

Rant over.

It'll be interesting if you're right and the addition of TB helps the staff win just enough games to keep Tepper from getting one of his coveted prospects next April while still being pretty awful in the process. That'll be awkward.

Do you understand that Cam needed to pass a physical for the team to avoid paying him an injury settlement?

Do you know that Cam finally passed a physical earlier this week, then he was released?

Planning to move on from Newton isn't the same as planning to release him.

I don't blame them for trying to get something in return. It just didn't work out that way.

I think most of the FO and Coaching staff wants a 2 year turnaround.. Tepper wants a complete tear down.. And right now they are playing in the middle..

The 3 ways this works..

TB shits the bed and the team is still in position to take Tepper's prospect..

TB miraculously becomes a different QB in this scheme and becomes a guy Tepper could see building a Franchise around..

TB is a game manager he has always been.. The rest of the roster isn't equipped to carry a game manager.. They are bad and Tepper gets his prospect..

The 1 way we get screwed..

TB is a game manager but the team lucks out and wins more games to a 7-9 or 8-8 record.  Give false Hope's..Putting us out of position to draft Tepper's prospect.. And we waste more years on TB. I don't see this happening imo..

And that too was complicated by his electing to have surgery so late in the game.

What I still find especially weird though are the conflicting reports. Remember Jourdan Rodrigue was saying the team believed he could pass a physical in March (which he ultimately did) while Ian Rapoport was saying he might not be able to pass a physical until June or later.

You have to figure that info was coming from different sources, maybe with competing agendas.

Saving a buck? Could have traded Cam if he got him to training camp and CONTROLLED a trade situation.

If he's healthy and in this division Rhules career is OVER. Set up by his boss to fail. HE could have coached Cam Newton.

There was no way they were going to keep Cam Newton and sign Teddy Bridgewater.

They chose Bridgewater. It may turn out to be the right decision. It may not.

His strategy already backfired. Don't you see it coming?

No, and neither do you.

Nobody knows what's going to happen.
