Panthers will draft Justin Herbert

NAS

I really hope we don't draft Herbert or *any* QB early. The signings of Bridgewater and Walker are sufficient for 2020.

If we want a developmental QB and Rhule and co. see someone they like later, that pick we got for Allen from Washington could be a nice spot.

We have too many needs - especially defensively - to go after a QB with so much help available early that is immediately critical to fielding a proper team.

Yeah, guys this is going to be a total uphill battle because we've got a bunch of folk from top down trying to figure out how to do things their way.

There is alot to be said for a guy that wants to bring a championship to his state his town. Now with a outsider you've got a guy who wants praise and glory for self. Just my opinion, from actions I've seen taken.

agreed, Garett Gilbert was a star in the esteemed alliance of American football, I'd like to see I make at run at him to round out our QB room rather than wasting a 1st round pick on a position as overrated as QB. Hopefully we go OG instead. Quarterbacks may win super bowls, but hog mollies win PFF's preseason all NFL OL rankings.

Hopefully this XFL guy wins the job and we have a competent game manager who can do some nice things and is a guy we really think can perform serviceably under the right circumstances for at least 5 seasons.

Wow, throwing out Garett Gilbert, nice.

I don't think that Herbert has the killer instinct to be an upgrade over Bridgewater.  That's it.  Herbert is a smart kid who has had some real challenges at Oregon.  I just don't think he's a franchise QB that will lead us to the Super Bowl.  I think he's much more a Blane Gabbert type.  Got the tools, but lacks the fire.  I think he's better than Gabbert, but I don't think he's going to upgrade our current QB room.

I'm not a football expert by any means, and I'm probably wrong.  But I know the team has more needs and there are better players.  Teddy is going to make $40M+ the next two years to lead this team.  To me, that tells me how much the team believes in the current crop of available QBs.

I don't think they will. They roll with Teddy for a year or two and buy time on drafting a guy they really like in round 1.

I don't think Teddy would have signed here without some assurances that he would get a opportunity to prove he can be the franchise QB...

So with the new “not tanking” direction I am not so sure we would be in position next year to get Lawrence or Fields.  Although while I think we may try to be competitive I just don’t see that happening this year.
I would be fine with grabbing Herbert or Love if they think they are possible franchise QB’s.  If for some reason we are there for Lawrence or Fields next year we can either select them or trade for a  King’s  ransom if Herbert or Love show some promise.

I know this much.  I have no idea what direction we will go at #7.  While the rest of the draft may be defense heavy, #7 is a mystery.

But for the god sake don’t trade up with the amount of holes we have.

I just can't agree with this logic... We could have either signed a cheaper "Bridge" QB.. Or let Cam do it with the 1 year left on his contract... We done little to nothing on the defense while putting together a pretty solid offense (on paper) for Teddy's prove it season...

Yeah, I'm a Hornets fan also, that tanking stuff never works out like you think and you risk making your franchise a real bottom feeder trying.

What Tepper doesn't understand is that the NFL at most levels is a fraternity. Players talk to each other. Your reputation matters. JR was a former player who was from the hospitality industry.

Tepper is from a basically no rules cutthroat business in which service to others is not priority. He served a select few. This bad reputation he's building may work against what his coach is doing or what fans want and may ultimately lead to the failure everybody wants in order to pick up Trevor.

I'd much rather hedge my bets though.

If you're Hornets fan then you should know it has worked out to a degree for them.. The youngs are developing and they are still in range for a top 5 pick this year... The Hornets right now maybe having the best rebuild I've seen in years..They didn't go out and spend money in FA.. They got 1 younger player who needed a chance to prove himself and turned him into a asset or a core piece.. They didn't draft his replacement after signing him..

Again I don't want to waste a top 10 draft pick on a QB 2 years in a row.  Which is a safe assumption because this team isn't going to be very good.. The owner is trying to tell you ppl this..

I don’t know why you haters can’t be real. There was no attempt to trade until the last minute. No trade could happen without him being cleared to play.

they waited 8 days into free agency to release him.

the Panthers slapped on the Vaseline.

I'm sure the team conjured up this diabolical plan of ending Cams career, right? My God some of you guys are unbelievable...

I'd cry if that was the pick. I'm hoping for Isiah Simmons at 7. Obviously Chase is gone there but if Okudah falls to 7 I think that's a steal and you grab him. Same with Tua. If all of those are gone I guess Derrick Brown, but I'd prefer to trade back at that point

Some of you got  Derrick Brown fuged up out here.. Dude is a legit beast.. If your Foundation on Dline is Burns and Brown.. That's a good start to a dominant defense....

$63M

That's low money for somebody who thinks he is a franchise QB.. He see what happened with Tannehill.. He making 40 mil less.. He could have signed a 1 year deal with a different team  for more and not being stuck with that team for 3 years... Him signing a 3 year deal for that money  says..

We're giving you a chance to be our franchise QB but if it doesn't workout we have outs..

They lied their asses off about Cam. Why would anyone trust what they had to say. Dollar signs on a contract speak a lot louder. If he had the opportunity to make more somewhere else he'd probably be playing there instead.
