Newer+Current players are listed below with a pretty glaring hole on the DL and secondary with a potential boost needed at LB.  The draft strategy has actualized with a huge hole at CB and NT in particular.

Offense

RB) CMC |Bonnafon |Scarlett

WR) Moore | Anderson | Samuel | Roberts | Cooper

TE) DeValve | Thomas

OL) Okung-Daley-Paradis-Miller-Moton

Defense

DL) Weatherly-Short-??-Burns (+Added rotation?)

EDGE/Hybrid front) Miller, Haynes

LB) Carter Jr.-Shaq-Whitehead

CB) ???-Jackson-Luke

S) Boston-Burris

Sooo I think our Round 1 is pretty clear if we're sticking at #7:

1. Jerry Okudah | 2A/B. Isaiah Simmons/Derrick Brown

And we're obviously targeting James Lynch (DL) and maybe Matt Hennessy (C) at some point.  Lynch was Rhule's first visit.  They're super tight, he led Snow's defense.  Let's just put that as a for sure in the 3rd/4th round.

But Round 2? We're looking at a wider net, but still likely defense.  Some names:

CB: Jeff Gladney, CJ Henderson

DE: Yetur Green-Matos

DT: Justin Madibuike, Ross Blacklock, Neville Gallimore

LB: Patrick Queen, Ken Murray,

WR: Denzel Mims, Van Jefferson, Tee Higgins

S: Grant Delpit

Who jumps out in the Round 2 club?  I would personally love a Brown/Simmons + Jeff Gladney combo platter.  Green-Matos could be interesting if available.

So questions I pose:

1. Who's your favorite WR prospect beyond Round 2?  Talking guys like AGG, Michael Pittman, Tyler Johnson, Claypool, etc.

2. Any defenders that look too good to pass up if available Round 2?  Favorite 2nd rounder prospects?

Nothing is clear.

Marty will draft the BPA with number 7.

thats of course how the Panthers rank the players, not Mel Kiper and definitely not the huddle.

im calling Andrew Thomas... but hope we jump up for Tua,.. although if it ends up being Derrick Brown I won’t cry,.. it just means he’s the BPA.

what I really hope is if we can’t get Tua that we drop back....

If you think it's a QB or LT you're going to be very dissapointed.  We may not even pick an OT in this entire draft.  Brace yourself.

I don’t see QB or LT either. If anything we trade down with a team looking for Tua or Thomas at that spot. Otherwise, it’s BPA between Brown, Simmons or Okudah. My money is on Simmons.

Looking at this; the roster seems like it's not filling out too badly.

I know the departures of Cam, Luke and Greg have been disappointing but I like the way our offseason has been shaping up. Our needs are being adequately addressed in FA especially depth on offense. It’s putting us in  a great position for the upcoming draft.

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
