In Arizona King filled in at fullback. I wouldn't be surrpised if he did more of it. Otherwise I wonder if we might go with 2 WOs and 2 TEs which we can run out of or throw.

That along with King/Barnidge in the backfield with 3 wr sets is what I expect vs the Saints. Barnidge would be mismatch hell for the Saints coming out of the Backfield.

not really any surprises there.

stewart never practices on wednesday. landon johnson has spent his whole time in carolina hurt (THAT is a waste of money and cap space, friends).

i saw this tweet from bill voth...

i wonder what "plans" they have?

Bernadeau as a blocking TE...forget about that idea of putting him at FB though.

Remember folks, they have been without Hoover already this year, and they barely used Fiametta as a lead blocker then, so it's not like they haven't faced this situation before.

I think the Arizona came should be a key indicator of how important Hoover is to the running game. Sure someone can fill in but there is a reason the team pays him as much as they do. Most fullbacks will never see the kind of contract he received.

And he is a Catamount. That adds alot.:)

We can do fine without a fullback, a lot of our big runs come out of single back sets just as they did last week. With the Saints' DL not 100% and already a bit iffy they will be susceptible to cutback runs which are a staple of single back sets. I'm more concerned about the lack of depth at TE than FB at this point. If King or Barnidge go down we're screwed.

Damn, I wonder if Lloyd is ready to kick FG's? I got a feeling that Fox will end up being more aggressive on 4th downs on the opponent's side of the 50yd line.
he's ready from 60 yards out.

i'm ready for him to get his chance as well.

i'm not going to complain about being more aggressive on 4th downs, though.

Updated - Kasay out with groin injury. Stewart and L. Johnson back. All others same status as yesterday.

And Jarrett will start again.

Panthers receiver Muhsin Muhammad missed Thursday's practice due to what he said was a sprained MCL in his knee and said afterward he doesn't expect to play Sunday at New Orleans.

"I"m not ready to play yet," said Muhammad. "My knee will tell me when it's ready. That's all I can go on."

Isn't it funny how these injuries are improving our team?

Eh...there is only 1 injury that you can honestly say that about, and that's the Godfrey injury. And even then, we don't know for sure if Martin can consistently be the real deal or if he was a one game wonder. I do kind of like the fact that Jarrett gets to start again though. It's long past time to find out how good he really is. It's kind of hard to judge a guy who has barely played and is a WR on a run first team.
