The timing of this physical is very suspicious. He passes a physical a day before he is released?

They have to give him a physical before they release him since he was injured.  Since he passed they don't owe him an injury settlement.

Gotcha, but I still think everything leading up to this makes it odd. Tepper was always harping on “if he’s healthy” blah blah. Well looks like Cam is healthy. So that meant nothing

Yes.

And I think it also shows that it never mattered. The plan was always to move on from him when they could.

I agree they were going to likely move on from him, either this year or next.

It will be interesting to see if a healthy* Cam has a market for his services. Based on the lack of a trade market, I'm guessing Cam's gonna be sitting in FA until after the draft.

If he's willing to take a cheap 1-2 year prove it deal, that might improve things.

If Cam is truly 100% healthy and we are set to release him... oh wee mayne.

Nothing will be more painful for Panthers fans than watching the Panthers flounder mightily while Cam returns to form and shines elsewhere.

I don’t want to see the Panthers floundering, but I 100% hope Cam goes on to crush it and win a Super Bowl.

I don’t necessarily blame the Panthers for moving on all things considered (contract, health, rebuild etc.), but I hope it turns out it be a bad move only in the sense that I hope Cam kills it whenever he ends up.

Not really. He just used very flexible language.

It's a lot like political speech.

Telling everyone how much you look forward to coaching a player and hopefully winning Super Bowls while you're planning to move on from him is lying. Saying decisions regarding Cam depend on his health status while planning to cut him as soon as he passes a physical is lying.

There's really no gray area on this one. Rhule lied.

I think he is likely to have a short term deal done within a week.
