Sad we get a 5th for Allen and NOTHING for a 30 year former MVP QB

We got nothing for any released player other than a fifth

its the Marty Hurney way

congratulations Tepper

maybe we can just send the Baylor varsity team here

I wish a super bowl ring for Cam Newton. The beating he took here, disgusting

If we were going to sink the ship we should've at least let the captain go down with it.

That approach would be easy for us as fans to take but not so easy if we were owner of this rebuilding team. However,i wish Cam the best of luck and good health wherever he winds up.

NFL suspends player physicals until coronavirus pandemic has passed

Cam will go unsigned for several weeks due to this.

This comment is not true or Brady wouldn't have signed his contract or Bridgewater if the physicals are on hold. The suspended physicals should have already been in place.

I still don't understand why we can't trade him. A former MVP on a cheap ass contract who has had over a year (really almost 2 years) to heal his shoulder. Is there really nobody out there willing to give us a 5th for him?

Trade wasn’t handled well and after FA and the likely known rookies (Burrow to Cincy and Tua to Miami) there’s only two teams with opportunities, NE and maybe LAC (might want Herbert). At this point, the pooch is screwed. Allen got moved because he’s cheap and there are lots of backup jobs. Cam didn’t because of injuries and because there are way fewer starting gigs available now.

Sucks as a business move because I believe that we can post June 1st cut him and save cap space.

But this is out of respect for Cam so that he has the most available time to get on a team.

I may or may not be talking out of my ass, but that's how I see it.

There’s no need for post June 1 and that doesn’t work on someone in their last year. Besides, releasing him actually opens our cap up by $19M, about what Teddy’s cap hit likely is.

About the Allen vs Cam confusion.  Allen was worth a fifth round pick.  He showed (in a few games) that he can win in the NFL and his contract is dirt cheap.

Cam is not healthy and his contract is a considerable investment.  Teams can't see him (physical).  Nobody is going to take on $20m per in that situation.  Forget the trade value---the contract is the issue.   Apples and Oranges.
