There’s no incentive to trade for him when he’s obviously going to be released. They already signed his replacement so teams know it’s a matter of time. This is one of the most poorly run franchises in sports right now

There is if more than one team wants him.  Apparently that is not the case.

But to trade for him means agreeing to some sort of extension or new contract.

The way they've handled this has been an absolute PR nightmare.

I'm not even as angry about the PR as I am about the behind the scenes stuff.

I get that it's a business. I'm one of the people that most frequently says that. But even with that said, there was nothing whatsoever to be gained by allowing Newton to think that the franchise was moving forward with him.

Lie to us all you want. Lying to him was low.

only because he was hurt.

can he get healthy? Don't know.

But I'd rather give him a shot to in 2020 to prove it.  Because if he is healthy? Any game is winnable.

"we" gave him a shot.  Team was ready to let Cam play out final year.  Cam wanted "commitment".

Reports we tried to trade and teams didn't want him. What else you gonna do?

Yes, bears and Chargers, Rap said bears had questions about his shoulder. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I hope he starts again but man it doesn’t look good.

Given how all of this has been handled so far and how this roster is shaping up, I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen a DJ Moore or CMC demand a trade yet. They're young and in their prime and this organization looks to be a long way from competing.

Has Teddy signed his contract?

three hours have passed since we are "releasing" Cam.  Guess they are still trying to get something from someone, anyone.

feels like we are lined up trying to get a cheap five yards.

Signed it last night or yesterday sometime. There was an Instagram or Twitter post from Teddy and the Panthers on it. The Scott Satterfield, Louisville's football coach, retweeted it.

Strikes me as odd that the Panthers did not resign at least a few more of their FAs IMO. Some of them seemed glad to leave. Is this a Hurley, Rhule, or Tepper thing? IMO, it's all Tepper. Get ready for 20 years of failure. Hope  Cam signs with an AFC team so I'll have a chance to see him play when Panthers are losing again [and I'm too fed up to watch] or during TV ads.

Even if I agree that moving on was the right choice, it's still heart breaking to watch it end like this, especially with how mismanaged it's all been. Cam is and always will be one of my favorite players of all time. He had an infectious attitude and his team mates loved him. He was a good player who was horribly mismanaged. I just hope that we protect our guys in the future instead of having a turn stile offensive line for a decade an expecting it not to end like this.

It is called being a professional. If the NFL turns into the NBA, I am done.

I find it weird when fans support "business decisions" made by teams but don't see it the same way when it comes to players.

Team releases player from contract: "It's about time we got rid of that bum! How much cap space did we gain?"

Player demands release from organization in chaos: "You signed a contract, honor it!"

Fans are always hypocritical. Always.
