Teddy's contract has an out

Recommended Posts

33 million guaranteed with 14 being paid in 2020... Meaning if Teddy gets destroyed in 2020 and it doesn't work out, we can draft a QB in 2021 and let him sit behind Teddy for one year and develop as we release or trade him in 2022.

I REALLY like this signing, people forget it wasn't too long ago he was projected #1 overall before he took a hard fall. He ends up starting for Minnesota one year before an ACL tear nobody thought he would recover from. We have a guy in house that would know his health situation in Joe Brady, the guy had some good throws if you take the time to watch all 5 of his games as the Saints starter.

The worst was the Rams game, which obviously when you backup Drew Brees, you're gonna grow lax because he usually never leaves the game. When he prepared, he played the system well and was able to get them 5 wins before Brees return.

The KC chiefs won a SB, but they did not play that well when Mahommes was out, super bowl caliber team doesn't = backup qb get's easy wins. I'd argue our 2016 team was a playoff team that had bad luck with 4/5 games in the 1-5 start being lost by 1 score or less... Derek Anderson couldn't win against a lowly Tampa Bay that arguably Cam would've beat had he started. Winning games isn't easy no matter who your team is.

Either way under Teddy's new contract, I don't see anyway he plays the 3rd year on it. If he wins 10 games year 1 then 11 year 2, he likely would get a new contract to be similar to the market.

Teddy actually started the better part of 2 seasons and played well.

As a rookie he played in game-4 and then started the last 12 going 6-6 as a starter and garnering NFL Rookie of the Year* honors.  It's notable that the team started 1-3 that season and was 5-10-1 the prior season.

Teddy was off to the races after that, started all 16 games his 2nd season and the team went 11-5 and Teddy was voted to the Pro Bowl.  The Viking lost in the Wild Card game 10-9 when their kicker missed a chipshot on the last play of the game.

Since then he has spent 2 seasons under the tutelage of 3 of the great offensive minds in NFL football.

Teddy is ready to ball out and he ain't going anywhere = long-term solution.

*This award is given to the player deemed to be the single best rookie in entire NFL for the season.

Several teams wanted Teddy. No one seems to want Cam.

I didnt see any teams rushing to trade for Teddy last season. Why would they give up additional compensation for Cam knowing hes going to get cut? And up until recently Cam was supposed to be coming back to Carolina. Now that everyone has their plan in place for QBs there isnt much of a market for him right now, especially a trade market

Teddy has proven to be an overglorified game manager at best. His numbers in those seasons he actually played are worse than what Kyle Allen's numbers were last year and Teddy had the benefit of playing on way better teams

ANYBODY > 2019 Cam.  He couldn't complete 5 yard passes to CMC out of the backfield.

We have no idea who 2020 Cam is.

Cam was hurt and played in 2 games?....No poo anyone who started more games was a better option doesn't take a very smart person to see that. Overall though Cam is 10 times the player Teddy could ever hope to be

Fanboys would rather stare at cam sitting one the bench making 30m in a creepy ass way than sign a new qb

its the nuthugger way

Better than watching QBs like Kyle Allen and Will Grier waste the entire teams potential by sucking massive amounts of dong. At least a healthy Cam gives you a chance at a superbowl

Cam has had a better career than Teddy is likely to ever have, but until Cam proves he can stay healthy, his value is not terribly high...

    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
